WPBA needs help!

Hey Guys,
I was advised by a WPBA player, that all WPBA events in 2006 would use the final 16 single elimination format.

When I started tracking players at the current event, I noticed they were posting progress on a true double elimination bracket.

I just returned from WPBA's site, the Bracket's have been changed to the Final 16 SE format and no results were shown.

I'm back

Progress of Winners side is now shown.
I assume they are working on the 1 loss side.

WPBA has now included progress of the 1-loss side.

Now,
1: Current event, Bracket Style Changed during Event.
2: Back to the 1st event in NC, as I recall, a poster advised that the payouts were changed during the event.

I am a fan of WPBA; but, I'm not happy with them changing things midstream of the events!

The WPBA needs serious help on the live scoring. It's sad that they can't even update the brackets in a timely manner. It's now 5:30 AM Saturday morning and the brackets aren't updated. I was under impression that the WPBA is a well-run organization.

This is awful for us pool fans!

Updates

After checking back on the WPBA for updates for hours or days, one must come to the conclusion that they don’t care about the many fans they have that can’t go to every match. There comes a time when I have to say to hell with them and waste my time somewhere else. Johnnyt

Hey John,
I would like to bring up another point.

AZB, the best pool info website in the world, does not recieve results from WPBA events.

Example: go back to AZB's home page, click on tours & tournaments, scroll down, click on WPBA, then click on Points List. You will see the points list has not been updated since "2005 Florida Classic".
Please note you can check results of players for the past 10 events. WPBA Rankings are based on the last 10 events.

Now why has AZB's WPBA points list not been updated?

WPBA does not advise AZB's HousePro of results. He does not need to spend his time searching brackets to keep the WPBA points list UpDated.

John,

I know the person responsible for doing this and she already has enough to do. She needs more help.

I'm not going to be argumentative here, but a lot of posters don't realize what the event situation really is. Very few persons at any WPBA are willing to donate their time and money to help out. It's a sad situation that needs to be worked out.

I believe it's double elimination until the final 16 is reached then it becomes single elimination.

I don't know who updates WPBA.com, but hold the WPBA organization accountable here for taking its fans so lightly.

For the second time in three weeks, the WPBA has been played at the same time as an IPT qualifer, and for the second time in three weeks, the IPT webstie has made WPBA.com look terrible.

The IPT website updates scores constantly, and as I've signed up for their E-mail group, I've already recieved an E-mail notification of today's results at the qualifier in The Netherlands. Seems like the IPT cares about its fans, and I like that!

When I looked at WPBA.com, however, at about 1:30 PM today (12:30 at the tournament site), results of last night's matches were not yet posted, despite the fact that Satuday matches were already in progress.

You put it perfectly, Barbara: "It's a sad situation that needs to be worked out."

Hey sjm,
You brought up an interesting point.

I attented the 2nd IPT Qualifier, 2nd day of the event (Sat).
I'm watching the event, receive a phone call from a WPBA player (a very good friend of mine).

She was reviewing results of this IPT event & photo gallery. She saw a photo that I was in and advised me the color of the shirt I was wearing.

That photo was taken Sat. and was on line in a matter of minutes.

Barbara,
I d'not believe what I'm reading hear.
Are you saying WPBA is looking for free help, & not willing to pay someone to keep fans informed?

Lamar

I'd like to take note of the fact that the brackets were updated promptly on WPBA.com during the Saturday evening session. Let's hope that this is a sign of things to come, rather than an aberration.

Do they know?

This might have been answered already, but does the wpba know there are a lot of fans yearning for the brackets to be updated? And that we are all waiting around for results because we check hourly? Maybe if they knew there were complaints from fans, the brackets would be updated faster? Or do they already know this and just don't have enough help?

Just take a look at how poorly the WPBA players get paid compared to other professional sports. I'd rather see the women get more money than having some brackets updated immediately. I'm sure if the WPBA had the money the IPT does, they'd be able to afford it, I'm sure.

Hey shayla,
I am aware of fact that pool players are not rewarded as well as other Pro Sports players.

I'm not trying to compare WPBA to IPT.

All I'm asking for is that WPBA keep Fans updated!

If you would like to give them a helping hand, Please step forward.

I don't know if it helped, but I did email Kelly Oyama as soon as this thread came out. They pay an exorbitant amount for their website, but of course, the info can only get on there as fast as someone updates it. I know most everyone else on the board is unpaid and very busy. I also know that there are a lot of players capable of doing a lot of free housekeeping chores, marketing, mailings, etc., but they have never taken anyone up on it that I know of.

I'd like to see the brackets updated as quickly as the next person, but if I really was that interested, I'd be attending in person. Having the brackets updated as often as the WPBA is doing now is still better than when they used to not even update them and just tell you who won at the end of the tournament. Which used to be the norm with any given sport. If they didn't care about their fans, they wouldn't be updating it at all. I just think it all comes down to money. If they had the money, they could pay someone to dedicate the time to update the brackets immediately as opposed to whatever they are doing now which I can only assume is one person who has multiple tasks trying to update the website. As a fan, then maybe you should email the WPBA and let them know what you'd like to see. I doubt they would object to hearing from the fans, and its a big possibility that they aren't even aware that this is what the fans want.

Awareness of issues sometimes goes a long way. Thanks for emailing her for us all, Linda!
