WPBA, only 2 tour stops listed for 2010?

I know they said more dates to be listed, but only San Diego Classic in March and US (WPBA) Open in July. It is almost end of 2009...

Am I the only one who find this a bit unusual?

Nope. I've been watching for updates for a few weeks. Most casinos are in the red or going under. They can't afford the added money that a Classic tour stop demands anymore. Only thing I can see is smaller purses and non-casino venues for awhile. Johnnyt

Sad to say but pool really seems to be in trouble sponsor wise. As JohhnyT
said, sponsors-added monies are really hurting the tournaments. look at how the Challenge of champions tournament was reduced this year to what, 4 players? We'll be lucky if that tournament is even held next year.

I just hope there is a stop in NC this year. I was quite unhappy they skipped last year.

San Diego's Viejas Casino will always support a WPBA event, I'm sure.

Sky Ute Casino, near Durango, had such poor attendance last time, I doubt they'll sign on again for 2010. Too bad because it was a nice venue.

I imagine it's hard on the top ladies not knowing how many and when WPBA events are being held for 2010. The ladies from Europe and Asia really have a problem. They don't know what tournaments they can book that won't interfere with the Classic Tour. Johnnyt

As I've mentioned before, it's time for the WPBA to go global.

If they can only get added money for 2 events in the USA, look to other countries. I'm sure it is possible to get events in Taiwan, China, Japan, Korea and Philippines.

As a bonus, those events will most likely be aired LIVE.

Yes, it will cost a lot for the players from USA, just like it does now for players from Europe and ASIA. That shouldn't however be a big issue, because I guess WPBA is supposed to do what is best for their players, and that is to get a real pro tour with added money broadcasted for a big audience.

I would love it if the WPBA would have like 3 events in USA, 3 events in ASIA and 1 or 2 in Europe.

This is normal for many tours to not have all their dates confirmed yet, even at the end of the year. We (the OB Cues Tour) post the ones we have confirmed, but we don't list the ones under negotiation just in case a date is needing to be changed later, etc.

OB Cue Tour is really not the same thing as the WPBA Tour. They have top-level pros from all over the world waiting for tour dates. Mean while they can't book other tour in their own country or other countries until they know when and how many tour date there are going to be. If they miss one WPBA Tour stop they could get a ban or a fine. Johnnyt

The idea is still the same. And it's the same for all tours.

You cannot post an event that is not confirmed. And that takes a while to do.

This is true...From what I understand, there are many aspects to the contract for host locations to meet. In my experience working with hotels and convention centers, you have to do a space and food and beverage contract about a year out or more. But I would imagine this is already done for most of the locations and I would think the WPBA has other types of contracts that include the added money and TV coverage but I'm not entirely sure. So even though they may be booked already, I think there are many parts of the contract that have to be met before they officially announce it with dates.

Last year the players knew about the Colorado event many months before it was announced because they don't list it as confirmed until all the contract requirements were met.
