I just read they only have seven tournaments for 2007. Thats not good. I know they are a great tour, but seven is going backwards. Pretty hard for the players to make any money on the tour. They better let them play in any tournament they want to or their going to lose some players. Johnnyt
 
They must have schelduled less events so the ladies would have plenty of time available for the IPT.:D :D :D :D
 
Is the Carolina Classic in Rocky Mount still on the schedule? If so, does anybody know the dates?

I may be in that part of the US in Feb and might want to go.

Meanwhile, here's a picture I took for you. It is titled "Varney Twins in Shanghai" Not sure how I cut the tips off. Maybe too much of that stuff in the bottle by the cues.

GAdawg, the dates for the Carolina Classic are TENTATIVELY scheduled for Feb. 21-25...

Maybe the venues they were playing at just decided that the wpba didn't bring enough people in to make it worth their while. Probably the people you see in the seats by the time it gets to tv represents more people that the extra people the event actually draws into the sponsoring casino. I'm sure that they'd show more net gain if they took the money it costs to support an event and put it straight in to advertising.

Is Peoria still on the docket?
 
i dont have a schedule but the ladies were told the US Open will be at some Casino in Rhode Island this year. The NC event will no longer be at the College but at the Gateway Center.

IMHO The WPBA faces difficult times. I attended every event this and last year except Oregon and from my eye attendance was off noticeably at every event.

Unless the law has changed recently, there are no casinos in RI. Maybe it was CT, there are 2 there.
 
Yeah, I think this is it. Not just WPBA but pool in general. I mean, the fan-base for pool is not going to get significantly bigger any time soon. This is (as depressing as this may sound) as good as it's going to get. If I'm wrong, great but I don't think so.


Leagues have fallen-off. Poolrooms have closed. The WPBA scheduling fewer events was inevitable.

On the BD website, they are talking about ways to make their program more proactive, like Jasmin winning a qualifier then winning the event, but still having to again play in qualifiers.
She's the best thing to come along and could only help their cause, yet "rules is rules" change needs to happen and quick, no different than Deno saying next round "one foot on the floor".
Sometimes you got to take the shot instead of playing it safe.

hard to see in the picture but I have a leather "claw" cue rest to keep the shafts from getting dings while leaning against the counter. One of the best investments I have made.

If she still needs to qualify, that would be just ridiculous. Winning a WPBA Classic event should gain automatic pro-tour status. Having it any other way simply does not make sense. What's worse, although one would think she would not have a problem winning another qualifier, professionals continue to enter them so nothing is certain. I mean, she will gain her pro-tour status, no doubt but there are no guarantees about her winning the next qualifier which blows.

The BCA Vegas event is not considered to be a WPBA Classic event.

But you're right, if Jasmine were to win a Classic event, she would be granted Touring Pro status.
