Earl's the MAN!!!!! Despite his nonsence, this man can play! 0-5 down in a KO round and rack up 9 racks in a row to win against defending semifinalist is juz too awesome.. *Salute*

Yeah...Earl was in meltdown mode 0-5 to Li. Then he got an opening, ran a couple of racks, played some good safeties, and started really trying hard to win. He was working the crowd, too. I saw him crack a few smiles in the end. Love to see Earl enjoying himself.

I was very impressed with his match against Li, what I don't understand is why cant he just keep his head down and play like that 80% of the time btw is referee nigel rees ok that was some dunt to the nut he took from earls cue.

Ealr is always like this. I actually think the man owes his comeback to the guy he was talking with between turns at the table. Earl loves to yap with anyone that will listen and remind him of how great he is. The conversation helped Earl relax and get his game back. If he is sitting there with his head in his hands and not talking, he starts thinking too much and loses his edge. To me, it looks like the battle all of face when we play. He has to relax his mind just enough to get in stroke. If he can keep someone beside him to engage him in conversation, Earl could do well in this tournament.

He sent the guy from China back home when I thought he was looking at an exit himself. I mean, he miscued at five zip down then things go his way. He sure can play and so entertaining. Intense at times and carefree other times. He seems unaware of the pressure inherent in such a big comp. He is in a class of his own.

Earl did have a flashback. If he can keep the cue ball close to the balls, he is dangerous. Li had the meltdown, missing several easy shots. I know that many people have high hopes for Earl, but he struggled to make the final 64 players. Many players are far more impressive here. I don't like his chances to go much further. Again, JMO.

I like Earl chances to win the WPC 2007 ...he still can play as long he can keep his cool on the table my money is on EArl....Earl still the best and his still showing that he still has the heart to play the game of pool...

I have to agree with you on that, he is a quite the longshot. Nonetheless, the man ran five racks straight. I don't care how impressive the other players are, if Earl can find sanity for the hour or so he plays, he is good enough to beat anyone. I just don't think he can control his emotions for that long. That is this man's challenge, controlling his own mind and believing in himself. Remember that Li just pushed Manalo to the end in the previous match. Li is a very fine player, yet Earl did find a way to win.

I was sitting in his corner during the match. His attitude was terrible. He complained about the tables, the rules, the fans, the game, the lag, etc. But he is one of the most fun guys to watch. The Asian fans love his antics.

He is like the poster child for the "Ugly American."

Depends on what 'Earl' shows up for a match. Did you see him talking to himself and to the balls throughout the match? There is something seriously wrong with him mentally.

This goes to show what Earl is still capable of. There so many people that has written him off but still surprisingly got the knack to play when he really wants to.

He would seriously be a strong contender if he concentrates more in his pool rather than his bizarre antics & behavior. I know most see it as a circus and entertainment but i for one has grown tired of it and would rather see his pool do the talking.

Btw - does anyone know who Earl was referring to when he commented.

"Not seen some proper pool in a while." & "Not playing proper pool" mutter mutter mutter.

in his match vs Alan Tan.

Earl said the pockets were too big on the TV table, and it was easy enough for Tan to get out. But he was basically referring to the days when he was the best in the world.

I believe there still a championship or 2 left in Earl. He more than capable of producing his best if he just cuts out all the bs and antics. Simply concentrate on the table and pot the balls. *nothing else*

He needs to stop being his own worst enemy at times
