The World Pool Championship will, for the third year in a row, be held again
in the Philippines - and four Filipinos are automatically seeded for that
edition of the annual tournament.

This was announced on Friday by the Matchroom Sports, which owns the
WPC franchise, through its spokesman Luke Riches.

Riches said the automatic seeding applies to players who made it to the
last-16 stage in this year's tournament - and that batch includes 2004
champion Alex Pagulayan, 2002 runner-up Francisco "Django" Bustamante,
Roberto Gomez, and Joven Bustamante.

"The four Filipinos are seeded to the main draw next year," Riches said.

As of this posting, the two Bustamantes have advanced to the
quarterfinals. Pagulayan, however, was eliminated by Django Bustamante.

gopi-1,
You have been invaluable during this whole WPC tournament with your updates and assorted tid-bits. Thank you!

Manila and Kaosiung both do nice jobs. It may be a long time before the WPC come to the USA.

One more thing...It would be great to see a "Mosconi Cup" type contest each year between the Phillipines and Chinese Taipei. Seems like it would be a very close contest each year, as both countries have great, great players.

I would love to see WPC held here in the US, the only drawback is...

NO free live ESPN, Sopcast or TVU coverage!

Like you, I would love that one to happen too! It would be even better if they
can make it the Ultimate Pool World Cup, were teams from various nations send
their top 10 players at their disposal and play 9-Ball Singles and Scotch Doubles,
10 Ball, Straight Pool, Rotation, One Pocket, Banks, 3 Cushions and 8 Balls to see
who have the best talents out there. Make it every 2 years, it's worth the wait!

WOW!
When you sell out the Araneta Colliseum ( where they held the Thrilla in Manila ), you deserve to host it again.
Here in the US, you'd be lucky to draw 2000 people.
I hope I make it there next year.

I will be surprised if the Prince of Brunei won't be included in next year's WPC's list of 128 automatic qualifiers !!! :D :D :D

I was wondering where it was gonna be held.

I'm gonna make every effort to attend next year.;)
