What is your favorite and why? Using a jig or hand tension install? Just wondering who does what. Happy New Year Everybody.

I like to use "uhu stick" glue stick
I apply linen using hand tension, pretty tight though.
Works very well for me

I've never used glue. I saw them put a wrap on at the Mcdermott factory in the 80s & the used clear polyurathane. That,s what I have always used...JER

I use "fish glue". It has a fairly long tack time which in my opinion makes it ideal. I use hand tension but quite a bit of it.

I was playing pool the other day with Pete Tascarella Jr. and i asked him the same question.

He uses Elmers standard white glue for both linen and leather. He said every leather wrap he has done he uses elmers and he said it holds leather like no other.

He also said that he uses just a small amount of elmers on a linen wrap.

Me personally use Elmers for linen with hand tension, and use contact cement for leather. Neither have failed thus far

I have always used Elmers Carpenters wood glue. It does not breakdown with water so if you wet the linen to press it it won't weaken the glue. It also helps seal the wood under the wrap. I use contact cement for stack leather wraps.

I use regular elmers for doing linens wraps. Hand tension on a hightower portable lathe for linen wraps! Have been since 94 never have had one come loose that I know of. I use contact for leather wraps.

Hi,

Titebond and about 10% water work for me on all my wraps.

Why, very strong bond, easy clean up on the leather and it does not effect my finish adversely.
