wrapless...

i have only owned one cue with a linen wrap and hated it, the cue always slid thru my hand... i have a leather wrap on my searing and not really a fan of that either because it is textured, he will be putting on a smooth one after VF... and maybe i'll like that better. i hate feeling that groove where the wrap and the butt meet. maybe the harder smooth leather he's going to put on will hide that a little. wrapless looks like your cue has been thru a war after a couple of months but that is still the way to go in my opinion...JS

Irish linen, pressed and polished, or leather. I hate wrapless cues, both in feel and looks.

Although I frequently like the looks of a wrapless cue I wouldn't play with one. The only wrapless design I'd like to try and own is a three segmented handle - those are very-very nice. But until then, it's 95% linen, 5% leather for me.

wrapless!!!!!!! is the only way to go......

Eventually a cue with a linen wrap, will get slippery and oil soaked and you wont be able to grip it well.... Had this with my old Espiritu, that i tried to turn into a break cue, i didnt notice how slippery the wrap had gotten till i went to break with it and the cue nearly flew outa my hand lol.

Yes during the summer your hands may get sweaty, but a simple towel wipe down or some rosin or a good washing of your hands will help that.

Plus,,, since then, all of my playing cues have been wrapless and wrapless cues look alot better and tend to have nicer wood than cues with a wrap.

I play wrapless, but like the look of wraped cue better - prefer leather,elephant whatever but sometimes a cue just looks good with a linen wrap.
Play=wrapless
looks=wraped

Are you going to SBE this year? If so, you might want to stop by the Longoni cues booth. Last year, they had a "test your break" challenge on a barbox with Tyler Edey wielding a speed gun. Most of the selection of Longoni break cues (which they are obviously encouraging you use for the challenge) had rubber wraps on 'em.

Hope this is helpful,
-Sean
how many people use rubber wraps??

I play with a wrapless Falcon, and it's the only wrapless I've ever owned.

After hitting with it for a month or so, I couldn't believe I ever played with anything else.

I love the fact that the cue NEVER slides on power shots, and I break with it, also, with no problems.

I've played with wrapped cues for years and never had one get slippery. My Dishaw has been wrapped with linen since '95 and played with just about every day. Mine is pressed/polished, though. And, I disagree about wrapless cues looking better. Nicer maybe on the handle portion, that's about it.
