Hi all, I found this very nice wrapless Ebony SW cue for sale. The seller is asking $3600 for it. Is it priced too high?

Cue is worth what someone will pay for it. But yes, I have seem them more reasonable than that amount.

it's not only a wrapless SW, it's a 9 pointer also. I sold this cue brand new to a good friend of mine a while ago.

I would have to say that the price does seem a little high but not much. That is to say that you are dealing with a cue that is rare for a few reasons:
1) it is a 9 pointer and NOT your basic 6 point South West.
2) It is wrapless, something that you don't see very often from South West.

Now depending on the condition of the cue, I may not be inclined to pay $3,500 because that price seems a bit high... for me! But there ARE plenty of South West lovers out there that will pay that kind of money.

As someone said earlier, a cue is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it and I can guarantee you that there are people out there willing to pay $3,500 for this cue.

I don't think that was high at all.

The 9 point SW's are fairly rare. Ebony nosed SW's are pretty highly sought after, and I have only seen a handfull of wrapless SW's.

This cue had all 3 key points, AND was a BRAND NEW cue.

I'm sure whoever got that cue at that price was a SW lover and has ZERO regrets!

And try ordering a SW cue today!!!
I do not think they are taking any names currently and have 8-10 year wait.

Wow. It must be early if I missed a point like that!

Well said!

ohhh mannnnn
that's my cue.... welll wish it was........ if i had the cash- i would pay that much for it... really i would... it has almost everything i want in a SW.... i saw it on Chady's site and been oogling over it for months... i'd probably lowball the guy and haggle, but the price for that is whatever someone would pay... it's a very unique cue.. i'd go on a limb saying regular 9 pointers go for 2500-2700.... some don't even have the A&B rings...

i would venture a guess in saying that it looks from the picture that there are 3 points showing and so that would make 6 total and 3 of those points being solid points and the other 3 having ebony recut into them making it a 9 point cue.. there is alot of controversy as to wether or not count the recut points as actual points.. in my opinion it really doesnt matter , just by hearing there is more points then what you can make out in a glance gives you an idea to look for the recut points..

naw i meant where are the points located, i usually play with house cues so i dont know what u meant by 9 point or 6 point cues.

That's a gorgeous cue, fully loaded SW, if you like wrapless cues. Very uncommon, highly sought-after combinations. The buyer sets the value...how bad do you want it? :p

SW Wrapless

Northstar,

If you don't want to buy it, would you let us know who has it for sale?

I might be interested. Is on Chady's site ?, who's Chady ???

Cue looks nice, I'd like to know the weight, etc, etc.....that's only if your not going to buy it.

Thanks,

Here's the link for the cue. Regarding Chady Liu, he's SW "expert" and trustworthy person to do a deal with .. based in Taiwan.

AA+ super BEM into Gabon Ebony, 9 Points cue. 2005 brand new unchalked (05-415). 2x13mm shafts. Melamine ferrules. Weights 19.5oz and 58 inches in length. Original AAA graded BEM wood handle. (ultra rare)

Tommyd1, Chady is also an AZB member. His id is poolchady. Like he said in this thread, he sold this cue to his friend recently and now this cue is for sale at Taiwan's Yahoo Auction site. Feel free to contact the seller at: tk@ms21.url.com.tw. This cue is out of my price range and I have decided to get another 1988 Wrapless SW cue from a different seller ... It s not as nice as the 9 pointer, but not bad either :D :D

Take another look at the cue. Right below the joint pin is the section of the cue called the forearm, below that the handle (this one is a no-wrap handle) and below that the butt and butt cap.

The forearm of this cue is made with 6 points, 3 high (long) and 3 low (short) which is the usual South West configuration but then this cue has a point cut within each of the 3 long/high points and is referred to as a 9 point cue.

That's about all the explanation I'm capable of giving you as I don't know squat about cues.... and that's the truth. :D
