When some one asks me what the price of my cues are I dont tell them to go to my website, register, get a password, then email me for a quote.
I generally tell them the price straight up on a cue that is built and ready to sale.
If they want something special made, I take the time talking to them to see what they want and then give them the price.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Why would you think you are doing something wrong, is it not working out for you?

YES... you want to limit customer contact as much as possible as to not let their opinions influence you and your god given right of awesomeness as an untouchable source of cue making power! That's what makes your cues value double right? Even as I type this I am breaking the rule! You should first fill out my online survey before you get my opinion :nono: oh and please make sure you enter your SSN and birthdate!

If I was buying a cue...and someone made me do that before I could talk to them....I would be looking for another cue maker. I want someone who I can communicate with not email or text. Just my opinion.

I think the post you quoted was written with sarcasm....

I doubt anyone really believes the OP is in the wrong here from what is described.

There really is a need for a sarcasm font!

When I want to make a snotty statement about someone else's approach to the cue making business,
should I do my best John Barton impersonation and pretend I am asking a question for discussion?

Its hardly a snotty statement designed to insult a legitimate approach to doing honest business but more so a reflection of a personal experience that exposes the absurdity if not insulting manor in which some sellers demand that you jump through their hoops rather than provide you with some level of personal service before you drop hundreds if not thousands of hard earned dollars on their product.

There was a misunderstanding. To look on the forum was to see if wanted any of the option that the machine has. Not to log on and fill out forum.
Send an email was so i can send and invoice and get info on shipping address and to send invoice to ok before sending payment .
I talk to 5 to 10 people a day and also talked to William before and after he got machine .
First time i heard i don't talk and explain machine before anyone buys .

So, you might just want to rethink you're position on willie's whine after reading post 11 below.

FYI - a manor is a large family residence.

No I stand by my comments. Misunderstanding or intentional that kind of behavior is all too common place. Sorry if you feel that shouldn't be up for discussion or only up for discussion on your terms. The beauty of a message board is that its an all encompassing place to express how you feel. A reality often overlooked in lieu of our own personal preferences.

Thanks for the spelling tip. I really should have gone back and fixed that.

Except that is NOT what was done.

Dale, I was not aware of your exceptional mental ability to know who I was referring to and exactly what took place.
If you applied that to cue making a customer would not need to call you to order a cue ... you would just know what to make and where to send it.
A lot of speculation took place here and if I had wanted to expose who I was referring to I would have.

Anyhow ... thanks for your educational advice on the matter.
It has all been cleared up and taken care of ... but you knew that didn't you.
