That is a good question Graeme. I am only used to the black irish spec linen and think it is time to upgrade to either leather or lizard. I was just at the convention this last weekend in KC (which was amazing) and held a leather cue and liked the feel. I am not sure of the feel of a wrapless. I am used to playing with either a Meucci, or more recently in the last 5+ years a LTD OR STL Schon which had a good hit. I kind of like a bit of a softer hit so to speak. As far as cuemakers, there are a ton out there of course so I don't want to necessarily say it has to be this guy or that guy's cues. In terms of the hit I have heard good things about Kikels, Nittis, Lambros, Herceks. In terms of cosmetic or the look too many to name. In terms of the color of wood it is hard to tell of course because I am used to curly maple only. I have seen some brown on ebony that looks good, especially with ivory in it, but once again am open to suggestions. I hope this helps a bit, and sorry again if I am picky, but it is a big investment

. I do play very competitively so all in all the hit will be more important then the look, but I am ready for a cue that has the wow look + the great hit!
At the money your looking to spend' I think your looking for 2 differnt kind of beast.....
There are players
And collector cues......
I guess if i was in your shoes i would buy both!
I would buy a good hitting cue to play with (that won't break your heart
if it sprouts legs and skips out the hall)
And that type of cue' that knock's the collectors out dead with envy'
As for cues IMHO.....STAY AWAY from Boner of the month cues.....
If your going to spend 3000+++++ make sure you get a cue from a
TRUE classic maker'' Some of those on your list IMHO are not great long term
investments. Not bad' But not the best bang for your Buck's!
(how i think.....If there is a cue maker that is 65-80yrs old, that has been making them for 20+ yrs....I Probably want to buy one of those now
and wait a few years for the younger talented makers to fine tune those cues....) If you dont think your going to be looking for a new cue
1-2 yrs after you buy these...I got 500 vcash im willing to bet you will!
Here is what i like now'
No order
Richard Black
Joss West OLDER ONES!
The ART C. i posted about-----(big 5 star.. buy now!!!! if you can get one)
Barry ZaM'
TAD (old custom...not from J&J catalog selection)
If you can find a super clean mint 'ornate' Blud' W' At a good price (not the newer stuff)
****SW Jerry F**** Good investment on a rare type (research)
Bill Schick
Gina (i don't like the hit, but a old one is a great investment)
Make sure you post pics on this thread..So we can see your new cues!
Matter of fact' wouldn't hurt to post pics of what your looking at for
suggestions. nothing wrong with buying the right one the first time.
its always fun to watch a cue creep up a couple bucks here and there...Better then the alternative!
As for a player cue
I would get a plain jane
TS
Bender
Sw (plain)
Frey
Judd JT-1
I still think you would do yourself good buying that DPK as a player and looking for that wall hanger @ a good price. I really think you would have to burn that omega/DPk to lose money on it!
