I am looking to buy a pete soon so can anyone give some opinions on the best hitting sneaky that they have experienced as well as a short description on how it hits (Stiff, whippy, etc.) I'm looking for 1 that looks as close to a bar cue as possible (No rings or joint collar if possible) Actually am willing to overlook a collar if it plays good enough. Thanks.

i think jack kompan cue has a sneaky that plays great. They hit almost like a sw. A little better in my opinion. Well he has a couple sneaky's that look like bar cues and they paly great. He has fancy ones too but you don't seem to be interested in that. his fancy ones are 250 brand new and his plain looking bar cues are 150. they play great. You are going to regret if you don't pick this up. They are cheap and hit good. There aren't too many cue makers that can make a cue that hits that good and be that cheap. anyway. I'll leave his number and he is an awesome guy to talk to . Or if you dont' feel like calling I'll leave his email address for you as well. If you don't like it, he stands behind his work and I'm sure he'll make it right. Very friendly guy.

Well I'll pm you the details.

Try a Zylr sneaky pete. They are very expensive but well worth the $$$. It has a buckhorn collar but if you a re playing in a dark poolroom it is hard to tell.

Arguably, the best sneaky's are Tim Scruggs. Ask around and I'm sure you'll find a concensus about the playability of the TS cues and sneaky's in particular. As I understand it, they were made in the Scruggs shop, but when Bob Frey left, Scruggs stopped making them. You can order a new one with 2 shafts for around $400 bucks directly from Frey. Ebay will get you a Scruggs sneaky for around 500 bucks to around $800, depending on the quality and style of the sneaky.

FI: I have an old Scruggs Sneaky (TS logo in a hoppe ring as opposed to the TS stamped in the points) and a relatively new Frey sneaky. Presumably, both were made by Frey, and both hit tremendously. I highly recommend them.

Sneaky

I still think 150 sounds better than 400-800 dollars. jack can make you an extra shaft for an extra 90-100 dollars. So 250 at most for a sneaky pete with 2 shafts. That sounds good and they hit awesome. I can't really tell you how much you would be missing out if you don't buy this cue. BRAND new from jack. That's too cheap to pass up and you don't have to be in a dark room to hide your sneaky pete. HIs look like a bar cue flat out and will hit better than anything that you have ever spent 150 on. For sure.

I was wondering about Frey and Scruggs sneaky's. Everyone raves about Tim's sneaky's but from what I hear most of them were made by Bob anyways. Would it be fair to say that a Frey and Scruggs would hit and play the same because they were made by the same person just a different logo? Does anyone know how valid the info is about Scruggs sneakys being made by Bob Frey and if not how can you tell who truly made them?

Yes. It is common knowledge that Frey made the sneaky's. In fact, Scruggs website refers you to Frey for sneaky's.
Here is a quote from Scruggs website:

TIM SCRUGGS on his website said:
While Tim no longer makes Sneaky Pete cues, lifelong friend and former partner of Tim's, Bob Frey does. Bob Frey like Tim, is also located in Baltimore, MD. Bob continues to make Sneaky Pete cues to the same exacting high quality standards as he did when he worked with Tim (emphasis added).
Verification from Scruggs website is here.

Have you ever made a post that didn't refer to Jack Kompman?

Richard Harris makes one hell of a sneaky and they are extremely hard to come by. I was trying so hard for the longest to find one and I kick my self in the ass for not jumping on one when I had the chance

I would gladly pay that for one of his sneaky's considering that he may not be making them anymore. I was so close to getting one but I just never pulled the trigger.

I'd try out one of those Thompson sneaky petes that they are sold on ebay for $80 to $90. Looks like a decent cue for the money. He has good feedback.

i've got an almost new Jerico custom bacote sneaky that i'd let got for 250+shipping. it has a radial pin and plays sweet as hell.
