Buddy Hall is my pool hero. I think he STILL has enough game to dominate if he gets in shape and is motivated.

i got to admit it, I have never been star struch by any player in pool when I have met them, Efren etc. I have travelled and roomed with top champions etc. But the ONLY time I have ever been star struck was meeting Buddy at the Derby this year. Infact that might have been the only time in life I was star struck and I live in LA and know alot of A list celebs, Halle Barry i/we all just drooled at the gym everyday for 2 years at Golds on Cole St. about 10 minutes away from Hollywood billiards back in 93.

Oh I did call Reggie Jackson a F*ck-Head once, I was doing a business deal with him, he had it comming and after that, I did think to my self what I had just said but I was right and after that he had a new found respect for me and we got along well afterwards. Gods honest story. I just blurted it out after he made referance to me wearing my bank account on my wrist-it was a $100,000 Rolex all factory diamonds, "LOL my bank account" I said "Dont be a ..." we were in my Bentley(sold it long ago) I told him why I'm "Fatboy" and at the time I was a roided out bodybuilder with abs.

Beleive me I aint got 1% the ego that guy does, he cant be nice to anyone and insults people, etc. so when I stood my ground I had his respect. I will never let myself be like that-anyone who doubts that meet me in person and you'll see i'm a nice guy, sure I have and ego but I aint special or any better than anyone, just luckier, and work a bit more and caught some breaks....Fatboy the ledgend is just beginning....:eek:

JohnnyT - how about a working link to your short stories? I am a lazy pool player who doesn't want to copy and paste and search for your stuff.

Got any Buddy Hall ones? I do but I can't 49cts for it. :-)

I have tried to put a direct link up but can't figure out how on this new PC with Vista. I hate Vista. I'm about ready to dig the old PC out of the closet and shoot this one...sorry Johnnyt
 
Buddy Hall's one pocket game is way underrated. He can play the game, and real well.

Fatboy, You seem like a relatively young man with some pretty severe physical problems that prevent you from even getting out of bed on certain days.
While I love reading your stuff, I've never seen you refer to the streroids before, and I was just wondering if you in any way attribute your use of them to the symptoms you are facing now. Do you think there is a link?

it was 100% the oppsite, i was playing pool when my back go so bad i couldnt play, in 94 so i started the gym and did both for a while then I went to the gym full time and my back got better, then i got into BBing and then started conservitative drug use and did all the blood work to be sure I wasnt hurting myself, I only used eurpoean and american drugs-no"home brew" I was fine for a while until my discs disappered on 2 levels, had them fixed I still have sever pain, I believe I have MD in my lower spine L3-L5 specificall,. We have hi-res images of the muscles disappearing over the past 3 years, my condition is so bad now I really cant play pool the past 4 months, for a while last summer i was playing the best pool of my life with not much effort it was amazing, now i'm lucky to BNR a game now and then, I cand get down or stay down on a shot and am hardly playing,

i did fire in some very small doses of specific roids a while back when i was playing and felt "OK". mu muscle bellys in my arms, legs etc started to fill up, i watched my diet carefully, i couldnt go to the gym as my back hurt to much and also movement there triggers problems, But I could play some pool then and did, with the increased volume(size) of my muscles my back was noticably better. Now taking roids and not training is bad news and isnt the solution for my back but that small test did show that when my muscles were filling up again my back was better, which explains why with the MD the atrophy of the muscles is somehow causing pain, perhaps stem cell thearpy would help to get the muscles whole again.


All my symptions of pain, without going into detail are consistant with MD, there are over 200 kinds on MD. The pain I have I have had sisce I was a kid its just getting worse I just turned 41 I have been in bed for 3 years, I havent done a biopsy of that tissue in my back to test for that disease-I will be testing within a month. we thought it was just a orthopedic disease there(the degenreated discs), it is clear I have 2 seperate diseases in the same spot, like a cut and a burn on your finger, both are a problem but you might not see the cut because of the burn.

i'm really scared, recently my condition has been falling fast, its a mental game of chess not to break down emotionally,

i can say 100% for sure after years of light roid use(cycles-i wasnt using as much as I was using 4 months a year I was on them) that doing them smartly was the best thing I coulsd have done for many reasons, however without having a friend who is a Dr an endocronologist Roids are dangers stuff for sure, i have seen alot of people hurt them selfs with them, but the pain pills I'm on now are WAy Worse they give the roids the 5 and pop in the bad news dept.

also i forgot to mention that yes its great to see buddy win, I like to see him more than any other player, i wish I knew him,

Buddy is one of the coolest dudes I've ever met! About 15 years ago at the Expo in PA I was just getting into cue repair and I asked Mr Bloodworth a few questions about how he likes to shape tips. Buddy walked up and....at that time I think he was sponsored by Bloodworth?.....so I said excuse me I don't want to take up your time if Buddy is here,....and Buddy put his big hand on my shoulder and said....."it's OK man,....sit down here and let Leonard show you a few things"....so I did just that! He showed me how to do tips, ferrules, and wraps that afternoon, and buddy took my playing cue out for a test ride (Black Boar) and when he came back he said....."that will work!:D"

I think Leonard and Buddy saw I was just a young pool freak and loved everything about what they were doing so they helped me out.

Congrats Buddy...great to see you hitten em strong!

i was his customer i sold his stuff(sports memorbilia) in my catalogs years ago, it didnt sell too well. He just isnt a nice person thats all.

Thanks for an honest answer to a tough question. I really hope you find some medical solution to whatever the hell is going on with your back. I have known people who abused steroids and regretted it much later (I guess Lyle Alzado would be the most famous example). But in your case it seem you used them (not abused). I wish you the best.

LOL I used to watch Reggie when I was a kid at Angels stadium.. this was towards the end of his career when he'd hit like .240 and strike out a lot..mid 80's. Everyone would chant, "Reggie! Reggie!" and he'd swing and miss!
