Probably use the 3 ball to try and tie up the 5/6, while leaving the 3 on the rail, by the nipple of the side pocket. Giving up BIH would give OO a good opportunity to solve both problems with his first shot but I'm hoping to get lucky anyway. Kicking to the bottom rail is a sell out even with a good hit. If I have to kick at it, I'm kicking from the left long rail and hoping for a lucky roll.

kick at it from the short rail not too hard at the left side of the 2 ball.
if you hit it thin you leave it on the long rail and cue ball by the head rail.

if you hit it almost full but not full you leave it on the short rail with no cut shot and maybe cueball behind the 7.

and if you hit it way too over then it goes across and cue ball near the head rail and possible no shot on it or a long shot.

if you are not good enough to kick one rail and hit a ball you need practice and this is pro players who dont miss one rail kicks often.

I’d need to be at the table to to tell for sure but it looks like you can kick behind the 3 with a little check side and make the two in the side P. If you miss it you will get decent separation and the 7 might help block. It also might block you from the 3 if you make the 2 with a full-ish hit without much speed. Tricky

If I went the tie up route I’d probably just try to roll the 3 up on the back of the 5 and hope the breakout doesn’t turn out well. I like the idea of using the 3 to tie up 5&6 but if the 3 popped out enough to be makeable in the side, it would be a perfect breakout shot with likely position on the 4.

The opponent Daryl Peach chose the 2 rail kick and hit it good but....almost didn't sell out. I woulda chosen the BIH roll up on the 5 shot. But Exactly where? After I thought about it, the 2 rail kick had allot more possibilities/luck.

Although the kick for me would be easier, I wouldn't go the two rail route from the bottom rail. I'd force myself to go the one short rail path instead. Way stronger chance to get a return safe imo. Although I'd say I'm still 90% to sell out.

I may go long rail, short rail, long rail, behind the 3, uptable, 3 rails,,,,,,,try to make it in the bottom left corner if the lane is clear,,or leave him tough on the long rail behind the 3/5 and the cue ball below the 9, hopefully not scratch.
I play a lot of 3 cushion, I feel confident in this shot, speed is crucial. It's a tough leave.
I'll probably sell out.

If you could get that 3 ball in behind the 5 and block the 5's access to the side pocket, maybe you could/would get back to the table.

Here's the sequence starting from Ortmann's break. Go to 38:22 if the link doesn't get you there.

Thanks again to Pat Fleming and Accu-Stats.

Bob thx, after looking at this again, I would of done this.
Shoot the 3/5 lay the five On the six.
The 3 ball will lay on on the long rail below the side.
If this happens, then O.O. most likely use follow with BIH too move Whitey into the 5/6 breakout.
