Kaci's shot after the break, he made a ball and chose the wrong roll out shot, where would you put whitey?
Not a bad idea, but you're way behind in the safety battle if opponent isn't jacked up high on the next safety and if they are, they'll probably pass it back and you won't like it. Another idea is to leave the cue ball between diamonds seven and eight on the right long rail. The safety and the shot on the one (which may not produce position even if made) are both difficult and I expect the push to come back to me, at which point I'll play safe. Even though it's a difficult safety, I've got a fighting chance in that scenario.
Of course, there's no right answer here, as you should play into your own strength. It's all about preference.
Even though it's Gorst. I'd probably play the 8 into the 3 to get it to the bottom rail, and leave the Gorst a straight in jump for the 1.
I'd wager Gorst at 80% to drop the one. That said, he would also need to draw the CB back a good distance for run out shape on the 2, especially after pushing the 3 to the rail.
Odds are, he'll drop the 1 and end up stunning the CB. This will develop a safety battle on the 2.

That's a very easy and definitely safe play. My only concern going that route is how easy the return safe is, and how bad it can go with that 2 near that bottom rail.
In my home room I think your suggestion is the best play. Against the likes of the world's best, I'm not too sure I like given them an open look

After watching Ghorst and many other greats I've learned and knew this from yrs of Roll Out 9 ball, you can almost NEVER let a top pro, see the whole ball, unless it's a length of the table straight in and you have to get Whitey back to the other table end.
So the correct shot that I would of done to any great player (and I've beaten Buddy/Earl/Archer/Cole and many others in match play is this).
I'd roll whitey an inch or so towards the head rail, only leaving him a spinning kick shot (r/h cueing to the one).
This then, will NOT allow him to control both balls, but he will take it, because both balls are going to opposite ends of the table.

He rolled whitey to the foot rail r/s corner pocket (r/s as you look at the pic) and let Ghorst see easily the entire ball, hoping Ghorst would try the cut shot, but no, Ghorst lag banked the one back towards the starting position of whitey and hooked em behind the 6, making him do a spin kick that was extremely difficult just to hit, he did hit it but sold out.

That's something I'd expect a mid-tier league player to do. Nothing but creating distance and praying for a bad choice.
