I think this is one of the oddest things I've ever gone out of my way to see. I don't know what sort of excitement I was expecting, but when I finally found the pictures I thought, "well... duh."

I had all intentions of coming back here to be the first numb nuts to say what you did, but you beat me to the punch.

Woody...you say that it's interesting. I guess Dr.'s can see all kinds of "interesting" things on x-rays but they know what they're looking for and how to interpret them. What the hell are we supposed to be looking for and what are the major differences that will affect the cue?

I guess you didn't see the image of Sister Theresa in the Joss, huh? Ya gotta look closer. Place your nose against the screen and slowly move your head back until it comes into focus. There! Got it? :p

This cue shows an overdilled hole ( black area is air, silver is metal ) in the forearm. Looks like a 3/8 16 metal stud and nickel silver ring between the handle and forearm.

This one looks like an overdrilled hole. The joint screw looks like it was glued to a wood dowel then the wood dowel was glued to the hole. Still had some air gap at the bottom. Stainless steel collar and silver rings are used I think.

???

Is that a fracture or stress area showing up? Theres a line (almost looks
blueish but its light grey) running under the Handle/forearm joint. It runs
along the air gap.

Is it odd that the screw does not go far into the forearm or does it and its
just hard to tell.

Do the air gaps hurt or effect the hit??

Wait, are you guys trying to tell me YOU DON'T get an xray done before you purchase a cue? Here are the 4 basic steps I go prior to making a decision. I strongly recommend that if you intend on playing optimal pool, you do the same!

1. X-Ray
2. CT Scan
3. Strength Test
4. DNA Samples

The "hit" is totally overrated and is some jedi voodoo they use as a sales tactic.

That density just adjacent to the screw is probably glue, whose radiographic density is greater than air. And I see no signs of fracture(s) in the wood. I'm a chiropractor.

*waves hand* "These are not the cues you are looking for"

Sorry, I'm a Star Wars geek. :p

Move along.

Very good young padawan! The force follow is strong in this one.

LOL! I knew someone would get the reference. :D

So...if I have a recalcitrant cue, can I send it to you for manipulation or a "cracking" to bring it back to good health and obedience? I tried doing it on my own a couple of times...over my knee...but my lack of training seemed to only create more problems. Good thing it wasn't alive...I would have been sued for malpractice due to permanent disability.

I'm calling the ASPCA right now.

I heard you could place a Hercek across two concrete blocks and stand on the middle without it cracking.

If you decide to try it, you should probably start off with someone small like Sarah Rousey. :p
