I just saw a tourney where bars table were brought in for a big tourney, for a 64 player tourney. Then they charged $1.50 a game. I played in one in Orlando and spent over $200 in quarters. When I mentioned something about it on the chat, naturally some guys says, "how much do you think it cost to bring in the tables?" I think it's bulls***t when the green fees are WAY higher than the entry.
To warm up and get adjusted to the tables would cost $50 or more for a weekend tournament, not to mention, hotels, gas, food, entry, green fees, etc. If you get 2nd place you might break even. Just tired of the players getting taken advantage of.
I notice the only people that have something to say positive about it are the people running it. Have to wonder if the flyers they sent out, even had it on there. Every time I've seen this, it was always a surprise, and now all the players are already there. Wonder if they took money out of the entry pot also???
This is one reason there is no money in pool.
They tried this in one of Tony Crosby's event, and Tony put his foot down immediatley and threatened to move his tournament to another location right then. Problem solved, tables opened!
This is one of the reason Archer started a player union, to stop the players from getting taken advantage of, and to put the money where it belongs, back to the players.
