I normally go with very very hard tips. But, I have a cue coming with a shaft of carbon cored purpleheart and I suspect that
the usual choices might be too much even for me. Absolutely will not have a pillow installed on that ferrule, but what might
be the low maintenance medium/medium hard choice that will *not* mushroom?
Two maybes that I have experience with would be a milk dud, or an ultraskin HH. Leather only please. What y'all got?

Pressed milk dud or a good old fashion Triangle tip. That`s what I`ve used and it works for me just fine. Good Luck in your search

I shot with a McDermott i2 for about 15 years, which would be carbon cored similar to your new shaft. I had a Kamui Clear Black medium on it (might still be on it, I'd have to look). Not a bad choice if they've fixed the glazing issue. I switched away from them about 4 years ago, so I don't know if they still have that problem or not.

Past that, I generally like Zan Hybrid Max or Taom Fusion on full carbon. I just put a Whitten medium on a Revo shaft and like that quite a bit. I've had a Caiden Fighter medium in the past and it was decent. Naolly is good tip as well, but you have to order from Japan. I've got one on a SMO shaft and like it.

Next up to try is a Kamui Athlete. I know a few folks that have them and have heard positive feedback from them.

Thr Crazy Redhead says hard tips are better but she is unfamiliar with the notion they get harder with age and use.

I play with a Becue all-carbon fiber shaft and butt, plus a Bulletproof Recoil Hard tip. I really like hard tips. Not much different feel than a hard leather tip, but does not ever mushroom or wear much at all-
