Guess who's in the finals of the winners bracket ????

You probably never would have guessed this, especialy if you ever saw me play but it's yours truly.....

Yep, Mike Janis and Rod Rentz are in the finals of the Winners Bracket.

Mj beat Heath Bartley (9-3), Tony Nelms (9-8), Mike Staubes (9-6) and Flores 9-8 to get to the finals of the winners bracket.

My opponent there will be Rod Rentz. Rod defeated Marcus Goins (9-3), Mike Newsome (9-8), Nick VanAllen (9-2), and David Shepherd (9-2) to get to the finals.

In the Quarter finals will be Mike Staubes and either Paul Brown or Louis Flores.

Wish me luck..................

Take it on off Mike. I look forward to meeting you at the event in Knoxville next month.

My match report. It started off real bad and then::::::::::

Rod won the 1st 6 games in the race to 9. (6-0) then I won the next 4 then he won 1 and I won 2 then he won the next 2 and beat me 9-6.

Now I have to go play Mike AStaubes again. he beat Louis Flores 9-3.

Well I like to hang my head but I actually shot pretty good. I finished 3rd. Mike Staubes beat me in the semi-finals by a score of 9-6.

Right now Staubes and Rentz are playing the finals.

Good job MJ, keep it up. I don't know about you, but it is often when I don't believe I will do that well that I just play my game and do the best ---- when the win means everything to me I will somehow find a way to stress myself out or to screw things up.

Like they say, keep it fast and loose.

Congrats! I've seen some of the Joss tour at "Rack N Roll" billiards in Stamford, CT.

I don't think I saw someone miss a shot with all the table going for like five minutes.

Taking third at that tournament would have been a great accomplishment.

Good job!

IT HAS TO BE EITHER A JOKE OR A FIXED. IT HAS TO BE!

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL MY FRIEND, MIKE JANIS CAN BEAT ANYONE IN POOL. HE CAN'T EVEN BEAT ME (WITHOUT CHEATING) AND I DON'T EVEN PLAY POOL.

HOW MUCH DID IT COST YOU TO PULL THIS FIXED?:)

LOVE,

JOHN

Yeah yeah, Good Luck TommyK, I mean Mike. ;-)
Congratulations, it has to be difficult to finish high when you are the one running the tournament. I don't know how Tommy does it.

It's about a 10 minute drive straight up I-85...as long as the traffic isn't locked up.

Great shooting, Mike. You will probably take off the $25,000 event next month.

Mike

Mike T. Thanks and speaking of the $25,000 Viking Tour National Championship next month. This is an announcement that I was planning on making later this week but i'll let you know now. I will be playing in the event because I just came to an agreement with Scott Smith to be the co-director at the nationals. As you know Scott has been the director at almost every major pro event in the past decade and I look forward to working with him again. The last time Scott and I directed an event together was at the 1st Viking Tour Nationals in Lexington, KY which had 227 players in it. We expect a large turnout this year and with both of our skills I expect this years event to go off without a hitch.

You finally quit stalling, huh Mike.

Jay, you caught me. After competing in over 400 of my events I finally came off the stall.

Actually, I admit I played very well. Usually I am soo distracted while running the event that my match always came second to my job as the director but this weekend my girlfriend came with me and she ran the chart which gave me the opportunity to focus on my game.

Now if I just had a girlfriend like that in every city I go to. HMMM. Wait, I meant if she could only go to every city with me. Yeah, that's what i meant.

Anyway, I have acompliment to give. It's not specific to any one player but to the many I have observed in the past. This weekend some of the players that know how I play complimented me on how well I played but its the ones that didn't know me that noticed something else and thats what I owe a compliment to other players for. The players that payed me a compliment for my attitude when things were tough is what I'm talking about. They liked the way I smiled even when I was down in the match or how I wished my opponents good luck before the final game in a hill-hill match. This wasn't always normal for me because I like the battle too much but over the years I noticed that other players always did these things and no matter what, they didn't hold their opponents responsible for bad rolls they got or even get mad when their opponent got lucky. It's definately the players like that I have the most respect for. So to all those players that treat their opponents with the respect they deserve no matter what happens during the match I commend you and thank you for showing me the correct way.
