You pick up the wrong cue-

314 shaft

I have an all black predator with a 314 shaft. These are fairly common most of them have the white at the end of the butt though. When there are a lot of cues in one area people have picked up mine and I theirs.

The other day a guy picked up my cue and ran 3 balls before realizing it wasn't his cue, he grabbed his and finished the rack.

I have had peeps grab my Sneeky Pete JB thinking it was a house cue.

I shoot with an ultra-light stick (close to 16 oz.). I notice pretty quickly if I grab a HEAVY stick.

Look at it this way, if you begin to shoot & don't notice then you are in the zone & the cue won't matter, anyway. You are in the correct state of mind for playing if you are focused that heavily on the game & nothing else.

Funny Story

A friend of mine has a break cue similar to mine, but not really. They both have a brown phenolic ferrule and tip and both cues are wrapless. Well, the other night I was playing against him and our two break cues were leaning side by side. I won a game of nine ball and went to get my break cue. I saw the brown ferrule and picked it up (it was my buddy's break cue) and proceeded to snap the nine ball in on the break. I proudly turned turned to him and smiled thinking he would go and rack the balls. He looked at me and smiled back and said "Do you like my break cue?"
I replied "Yes, it hits very similar to mine." That was my 3rd nine on the break in about an hour. Apparently it is the indian and not the arrow! He was very gracious and did not get mad.

Black ferrule on the break cue...white ferrule on the shooting cue.
leather wrap on the break cue...linen wrap on the shooting cue.

Pretty obvious which cue I'm using.
