You-tube ripping us off must read

What happens if you advertise on outside sources for a YouTube video? Wouldn't that be a better comparison, or don't advertise either video and see who gets more views. Your comparing apples to oranges.

Right! I'm anxious to test in a better way after more thought. Thanks for your insight.

I have a highlight video on Efren Reyes & James Davis Jr, from the Tornado Open this past October. It has close to 3,000 complete views on a private website with outside promotion from Facebook, Twitter, and AZBilliards.

If that same Video was posted to my YouTube channel, without any outside promotion, it would barely have 300 views right now.

And your point is ,,,, Your promoting using outside sources ,,
Let's not get too carried a way thier are YouTube posters who get that in a few hours

If you titled it the same with no promotion i guarantee it would have more than 300 views in two months. If you search for Efren Reyes on youtube, there are videos posted a week ago with 150+ views. I haven't seen any of those posted on facebook or here. There is also an efren reyes video posted by batang two days ago with 430 views already. He has quite a few followers, although not as many as genipool. It would be pretty simple to create a new account, upload a video on your site and one on youtube with the same name. Promote yours, let youtube run its course, then come back here and show the results. Right now you are trying to sell people on theory, and they don't agree with your logic. Just do your thing and show people the results. Let the results change minds.

So what are you trying to find out? The only people who you will test are people who will want to watch the video and I'm sure they won't care what site they watch it on.
If you had 1000 of the same videos on you tube and on another site YouTube would get more views overall because there are lots of players that aren't competitive are going to know that YouTube is the place to see a pool video if they want to watch it.
The OP wanted videos on sites like hers to give the money to the players but I feel the people who make the videos should have that money. If there is no money for the people that make videos they will stop and then everyone loses.

Thanks for supporting pool with your AdBlocker program. It shows exactly what you have in mind and your willingness sacrifice a few ads here and there that compensate the hard work by individuals you get to watch for FREE. Your claim, is exact post I've been looking for to support the title of this thread. I want to thank you for confirming what "REALLY" happens out there for people that work hard to provide you with all these videos FOR FREE, and most importantly for you, AD FREE as well.

BUT, not all is lost for you. BECAUSE I UNDERSTAND why you do this. I don't want to watch all of these relentless advertisements while I'm trying to enjoy pool online either. Especially ones that are unrelated to what I'm watching.

This is another reason why I would hope, a privatized situation for pool could yield better results in the advertisement sector, because those joining or watching on a private website would have MORE OF A conscious for what it stands for.

Don't tell AZ that your ad-blocker also blocks all the ads on this site. They may be a bit upset about that.

Dear AZbilliards.
My ad blocker blocks your ads.

If you would have read I also wrote that I buy many streams. Those are not free. I am supporting it. I am supporting in the manner that I choose. So tell me again how wrong I am.

The "problem" isn't the platform.

The "problems" are many and the platform is actually the easiest to solve.
The more serious issues are rights management, accounting, marketing and most importantly, "high quality content".

Rights management is a nightmare all by itself as there is no current standard, the default laws vary by state, and establishing said rights will be no less than a greased pig rodeo.

Accounting and especially marketing costs money, and if done right, lots of money.

But none of that will matter without a good product to sell. By far, most of the pool videos and streams I have watched, for any reason or player, have been sub-par with little to absolutely no commercial value. We're not talking about full length films, sitcoms, docudramas, music videos, or even indie films. Its just two people you hardly know playing pool. No backstory, no previews, no promotional biographies, nothing to draw you in, no storyline to follow, and nothing to keep you coming back.

No our first test is with an account that has 10 subscribers. I've contacted one of the largest billiard video rippers on YouTube, a.k.a. Genipool4 to put a test video out there for us on his account, to see the flip side to the coin.

The tests are to prove that YouTube does absolutely nothing to promote pool on its own.

A few more tests will ensure with promoting a video from outside sources, such as social media, and maybe even AZ. and see if there are any differences in the view counts with traffic is directed to YouTube or a Private Website.

I already know what the results will be, but I'm collecting the data for you all to see. Since many of you call me a liar and don't provide proof. We'll have some proof, and then we can debate all over again to why You Tube is ripping off the hard work of many.

If your videos suck, then they won't do well.

Goldy,

I see you've edited out the parts of your posts where you stated you were planning to charge people $20/mo to host videos on your sites - why is that? Going to do it for free now? Or have you found another as yet untapped source of income you're planning to plug that gap with?

You've also still not been able to post anything remotely resembling a credible source for your claims of $500,000 revenue for pool videos yet. Still waiting for that. I mean, if you've costed out the charge you're going to levy on people for using the service you plan to profit personally from, you must have that fundamental detail, right?

Please read and share this facebook post!! It is very important for pool players.....

You Tube videos provide an important training aid to those who live in remote areas who can not access instructors. There are free instructional videos all over u tube. Posts like this are influenced by the greedy attorney mentality.

lol i think i know what got those twos brains spinning.....the arguments over college athletics and the sanctioning of players by the NCAA regulating them to "amateur" status....IE they cant make any money.

News Flash: Youtube is not the NCAA.

Like some have stated already, the people that have BUILT an interesting enough channel, and one that has enough followers ends up making cash.

They built a site that could empower people to record and share experiences, ideas and creativity as a form of open source net based entertainment.

google pays the channel owner. google owns youtube, google also has a thing called adware where if you are a company and you have an advert, you pay google to put it on peoples videos and the channel owner gets a cut of the payment.

Next your going to tell me that its against your rights to be filmed for commercial purposes.....well your not being filmed for commercial purposes, except when big truck and such film a player......with the BTS and TAR the players actually have a shot, a real one at that. Because they are filming that to show for PPV. Purely commercial.....tho I'm pretty sure no ones going after that chicken feed, as its only done by fans for fans really and they aint gettin rich lol ray is on the grind too lol.

People DO NOT PAY to watch videos on youtube. It is 100% free, because there is no monetary value to the videos. Nothing. We put it up there for anyone to access to enjoy or whatever.

So all those videos they had to spend billions on equipmet to store all the data. Well they sure as shit are not going to get the money from the uploaders and users.....so how the hell do we make this really cool idea work? How do we give everyone free constant access to be able to post and share all these videos as well as watch them??????????

Shit we will sell ad space...and heck lets share someof it with the outstanding uploaders/channel directors.

So they give us this amazing tool to teach others, learn from others.....for FREE with the option to possibly make some ends.....and what happenes?

Quite possibly the cheapest of the diff niche groups of people which participate in something and that always wants only free water. Think things like lessons and any semblance of professionalism is just utterly preposterous now wants their stuff not be used because they see it as the hustler is now somehow being hustled out of his/her mythical cut.....

lots of half thought out ideas and bunch of dogma is all i'm hearing.

They DONT CARE ABOUT POOL, THEY DONT CARE ABOUT JACK! The videos we put up dont matter one bit. When you saw the Superman Batman trailer before The Force AWAKENS, they have nothing to do with one another. JJ abrams sent his copies of the movie out and each local theater plays what ever commercials they dam well please before it.

You really think that the Superman Batman movie is gointo have to pay money to Disney because it showed a trailer before the Star Wars movie?

See how dumb that sounds? Now stop trying to bring money into the game by fishing for the moon in the water and make real goals that not only make sense but are not only workable but also legally. Because all the arguments as to "why" you should get a "royalty" add up to a technical and constitutional goose egg for good ol pete the painter.

But hey since you cant get google maybe you can just try and rob TAR, TBTS and Accustats.....

oh and dont even think that your going to be able to go after ESPN......because in football the NCAA sells them the rights to film the football stadium. I'll bet that in a tv contract ESPN states they are just filming the tables or somethng.....

because what you think, and what neat little legal bows things are tied in are two diff things. One is fact another just personal opinion.
