You win

Funny quote about Grady...and know I am a big fan of his.

I was talking to a buddy of mine (Morris Foster) here who used to play at Cochran's when Grady was there. I asked him about Grady one day and I still chuckle at his answer:

Grady always looked like a hobo, and then he went to LA for a while. When he came back, he still looked like a hobo...a REALLY good shootin' hobo.

Grady, you're a legend in the pool world and whether you choose to come back and subject yourself to this forum or not, your legend status is secure with me.

Cheers,
RC

Ribdoner, can't argue with anything you said. But, sometimes, if you love something, you have to stop thinking about yourself and try to better whatever it is you claim you love. Actions are more powerful than words.

You can always tell the direction of a movement or organization by the character and actions of it's leaders and heros.

Maybe change will have to wait.:(

I would like to see Grady read this post and think hard on where he came from ,and where he is today, but most importantly, where he can be tomorrow.

Tell it like it is!!

All the people that have bought into Grady thanking all of the so called friends that have supported him ,and then they replied with what a raw deal he's gotten, and what a loss we will suffer is only hurting Grady. We reap what we plant period.Yes Grady was once a champion player, yes once a champion story teller, yes an excellent instructor, and once was a champion person, but what I miss mostly about Grady is the champion person, and untill that person returns than maybe the loss isn't that great after all.Well Grady your shot and you controll the table, good luck.

Naw, though he does have that Hennessee "look" in his eyes, as well as wearing Hennessee's trademark, a baseball cap. ;)

I do see the similarity in that snapshot. :)

The portly gentleman on the left is Gypsy from the Big Apple (good bar table player with a powerful break). In the middle is Frankie from Joysey (a player in his own right who'd rather be shooting dice than shooting pool), and on the right is a feeling-no-pain Earthquake who's all smiles for the camera as long as he's holding onto a cup of happy juice! :D

yea he does look alot like hennessee in the pic. I cant believe you have been to paris tn. Small world afterall huh.

This post may be a "tough love" challenge to Grady, encouraging him to suck it up and put the ill will behind him and look positively towards the future.

I hope it is that and not just a suggestion that we just cut our 'loss', when a man that has been a good friend and ambassador to pool for many many years, hits a rough patch in life. Good friends make allowances for these things, ask and offer help, and realize that we all have our ups and downs in life. I don't think Grady has committed any felonies here.

Nice post.

He hasn't committed any felonies is right, but he has burned some bridges, and I think that's why he got the backlash. That plus some here just like piling on when someone is down.
That being said, Grady has only been nice to me and has always been nothing but friendly, nice and appreciative. So how can I ever NOT stick up for him? I would do the same for any of my friends, and would hope the same would be extended back as well. And I've stuck up big time for Freddy and others here as well, not JUST Grady. It's not done for "brownie points", it's done because that's what I believe friends do.
As a matter of fact, the only flak I've ever gotten here at AZB was when I stuck up for Earl and Grady. So really, it does more harm than good sometimes, but I believe it was still the right thing for me to do.

As for Billy, I have oodles of respect for him as a person and a player. What he says is from his perspective and his dealings with Grady, which have been very different than mine.

Your comments are probably the most significant of all that have been made. You have known the man well, not just from reading an occassional post or watching a tape, or even playing him occassionally, but from working and playing with him.
I'll miss Grady's posts, as well as the controversy they generally arouse, but I think it is not the place for me or the vast majority of people who post here to comment on Grady's life, personality, or choices. If people had restricted themselves to commenting strictly on the substance of Grady's post, maybe he'd have stuck around. I also occassionally lapse into commenting on people I really have only observed from afar, it's a human foible to do so, but it really is something we should try to avoid on this forum.

BTW, as I've mentioned many times before you were posting here, I think you are the BEST commentator Accustats has.
