Good luck to you, but fear not about no Splash Bar. I heard through a grape vine that there maybe a bar set up in or near TAR PIT to accommodate all BCAPL's thirsty players:thumbup:

Nice. That's good! I seem to get really thirsty while I'm in vegas for some reason.

Sounds like some very wishful thinking. Just watch out for those stacked teams, the ones with Ike Runnels on em. Last year we had a team with four AZ 9's and one 10. We drew the team that took 2nd the year before, and we won 85% of the games we shot in and we lost 13 - 7.

I wish you guys and all the Arizona teams the best as it's a huge field. It would be great to see the home town guys take it down. Then you can play next year with Jimmy, Mitch, Mike, George, Dennis in the Master's Division.

It would interesting to see a team from another state step up and make the same statement. Maybe a Who Lasts Longer bet??

I've already heard about the open team Ike is playing on this year. They all live in the same state so how stacked can it be???

As most people know, every year people stack teams. It's even worse in the open singles (men for sure, I don't know about the women).

Get a ood draw, play well, get some rolls, show up sober and avoid going broke and any team/individual is well on their way to a successful May in Vegas.

Sorry, but here is the team to watch out for. 97001.jpg Our team is the one on the right, in case you were wondering. Team Bacalao.

A ton of teams in the open team event will be stacked, I imagine. My husband is always recruited to play on a stacked team and they always do fairly well in Vegas. Hell, we even stacked a women's open team a few years ago and won it.

In Texas, it isn't unheard of for players to travel to other cities to get their league weeks in to qualify in order to stack a team!

So, beware of Texas teams out there! :)

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is a stacked team? Also, how could a team win 85% of their games and lose 13-7? I assume this has to do with a handicapping system that can be phonied up by sand bagging during league play?

Stacked just means it is loaded with the top players from their area.

He said 85% of the game they SHOT in...

i.e. 12 times they were run out ... 1 time they lost when they got to the table and 7 times they won when they got to the table.... or something along those lines.

In singles, my opponent and I ran 9 racks in a race to 5.... I lost the flip and hence that match 5-4. Those table are so easy if they table is fairly open. Oh well...

Exactly Chris! We lost the initial flip so we had to be the Away Team. The Home Team breaks the first and 3rd round. All 5 of the players broke and ran out in their breaks. In Round 2 we won 4 and lost 1. At the end of round 3 we were down 11 - 4. We won 3 of the next 5, but they finished us off with a dry break and a scratch on the break.

In singles I did pretty well finishing in the top 100 in the open division, and my 2 loses were both lost hill-hill with my oppenent running out. My 2nd lose consisted of 9 break-n-runs, I just flipped the coin a tad too hard and it came up heads instead of tails. I later found out that my opponent was a pro and does fairly well in pro events.

The BCA is no joke and you need lots of luck to win it all.

My issue with the BCA Team event is that they don't bump the top 16 teams to masters the next year. If you noticed the numbers of the Masters Division they have dropped every year, to where they will be doing a round robin soon. People stack teams by travelling to get qualified. Large populated areas like Chicago, Texas and L.A. can do this even easier.

Actually, they already do the round robin format. If my memory serves me correcct, last year they started off with a round robin and the top 16 or top 8 teams made it to the final board to compete in the tourney.

Dennis <<<<looking forward to winning the master's team event. :p

Ike is playing the open team this year? Didn't he play on Kirkwood's team last year? I thought we played them in the round robin of the master's team event. I could be wrong, maybe it was the year before last.

Dennis

The formula to win the BCA national team open is simple:

PLAYER 1: Grand Master / Pro (this is your master)
PLAYER 2: Master player who has flown under the BCA radar
PLAYER 3: see player 2
PLAYER 4: see player 2
PLAYER 5: an open player that has never been to Vegas and is better than your players 1,2,3, and 4

PLUS get some rolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mike
