With the Alaska State Open 8 Ball tournament a few days away I decided to watch a TAR Match I have on my computer. Efren and Shane in their race to 27. Those guys make it look so easy. Just shows how good some one can be when they are gifted, talented, dedicated, etc. It is my favorite 8 ball match. I wish I could play half that good this week end.......

My favorite...

...is the Accu Stats 8-ball Invitational 2001 between Efren and Mika!
Only 1 missed shot in the whole set by Efren and a fatal scratch on the break by Mika are the only errors...

...and a dancing Efren on his last break is soooo much fun to look at!

Not only the best eight ball match but one of the greatest matches ever played was the final of the 2013 US Open 8-ball event at the Rio in Vegas.

In alternate break format, Shane and Biado each broke and ran nine of their first ten racks, and the match deciding error by Biado didn't come until rack 23, as Shane won it 13-11.

I was there watching that live on the screen outside of the room. My son was there for the Jr Nationals playing on the 7' Diamond setup in the hall, lots of fun at that tournament(s).

1995 PBT World 8 ball Championship, Efren vs Mark Jarvis. Some good power runouts in the match, then the 1996 WC Efren vs Jimmy Wetch. Wetch should have won it, but made a bad draw shot at the end.

a day or two before shane played dennis o. in a TAR match, they played 8 ball sets on the TAR table races to 10 and it was streamed for a while. this is when the table had the tighter pockets i believe. every set started with a 7 or 8 pack, and then the other guy would run 7 or 8 back. at one point dennis broke and ran 16 of 17 racks over the course of a couple sets. best 8 ball ive ever seen. i wonder if Justin has it archived somewhere because i would probably pay just to watch it again

I miss playing that tourney. There are some good players that show up for it. No doubt a different crowd nowadays but I'm sure many of the heavy hitters still show up. My other favorite tourney there is the Payday Classic at JJ's every spring. Now I live in the land of no pool, and my game is suffering bad. I wish you luck at the tourney!
