Just wondering what the masses favorite game is out there so lets have a poll and if you like you can tell why its your favorite game.I love 1 hole but enjoy all the games alot, the reason i like 1 hole so much because you have to be a great all around player to play the game well,so much to the game as for strategy.

You can choose more then one game guys if you like also if you cant decide between them.;)

I like to start out with a couple games of one hole and then proceed to really wake up with some 9-ball. One hole has been growing on me, but I like the fast paced super-offensive domination factor of 9-ball the best!!

I like to do the opposite, play a set of 9 ball or 8 ball to loosen up and then jump into the 1 hole, but i think that 1 hole is a different stroke then the other 2 games though, alot different then 9 ball for sure.

The money is in 8-ball. Everybody knows how to play and to the average joe, it's the only game. If you want to find a money game in 8-ball just drive to any one of the thousands of bars across the country. If you want to play one-pocket for money then I don't know where to go. I know you shouldn't come to Colorado Springs. Truth is 8-ball on a barbox is the moneymaker.

Although I mainly play a lot of 9 and 8, I make every attempt to play one pcoket, 14.1, and a bit of billiards every chance I get. For some apparent reason, those games appeal to me more for they require some definite pool knowledge, finesse, and imagination. I don't find many who play these, and if I do, they either wanna play for money, or I would bring their game down.

But I think if I solely work on them alone and leave the 8+9 to just leagues I am wondering if I will improve....

Your right 14.1 and 1pocket do require alot of finesse and i also think playing a certain game at a high level takes alot of dedication to just that game, not everyone can play all the games to a high level and be a great all around player.I think that is what makes Efren so special compared to alot of players who were straights gods and 9 ball terrors,he can play them all including billiards.Alot of people tell me that me playing 1 pocket will hurt my 9 ball game,i have seen my all around game improve from 1 hole play because of better safe, position and banking, but it could take away something from your stroke as your not letting it out as much as 9 ball.

If I were to choose one game and one game only to play, it would be 8-ball. But that is because the money involved. Excluding the money, I would choose one-pocket because I feel this game is one that you can never stop improving and when you stop improving you stop enjoying the game. But for shear entertainment value, I love 9-ball. There is nothing more exciting than making ball after ball after ball, rack after rack after rack, and loading up the cb with all kinds of crazy stuff.

I mainly play 9-ball. Although sometimes I also play 8-ball and rotation. I'm really interested in trying out straightpool and 1pocket, but I don't know anyone who knows the rules and strategies behind it.

I think once you are playing a fairly high level of one pocket that it can only help 9-ball. A single one pocket shot can give you the opportunity to get back in line after poor position shot or break.

I have been meaning to play some 14.1, but I don't have anyone locally that wants to play it with me. I think that would be a tremendous help with ball-making in general. If you can run 30 balls, you won't feel any anxiety trying to run 9...

8-ball is the only game that I have to say that I absolutely hate. I don't know what it is about it exactly, but I do not play it AT ALL. I spot the 5 & 7 to some people playing 9-ball and 10-5 playing one hole, but 8-ball? ...I'd need some weight! :D

One more comment about one pocket "bringing down your 9-ball game"...

I'd bet those are the players who shoot one pocket without aiming and shooting even the easiest safeties with absolute accuracy... Of course if you just bang the balls around without trying to hit a single contact point you will not be helping yourself.....

I chose 9-ball because that is the game I most enjoy right now. I am not familiar with some of the other games yet. I would like to play more one pocket and 14.1 though.

For those of you who like this game but just cannot find shooters who play it, just practice by yourself and you will find people coming up and asking you what game you are playing. I did this about two years ago and now we have 14.1 leagues in two rooms here in Northern California with members such as Bob Jewett and Eric Harada. It is a contagious game especially for players only exposed to 8-ball and 9-ball.

I do also practice one hole by myself and some people find it a waste but its just like practicing straights and running the balls,i just play one pocket trying not to make too many mistakes and i never seem to lose when i play the game against my twin, lol.:D :p :) ;)

One pocket is definately my fav

I'd rather be tied up and whipped with a hot crack pipe (ala Rick James)
than play 3 ball

9 ball is pretty fun, but i don't get many opportunities to play

Jake

I'd rather play banks than anything else.

As far as one pocket hurting your 9-ball game, I definitely agree in certain respects. I spent a couple of months mostly playing one pocket and think my ball pocketing skills and whole table position play suffered because of the lack of repetition that 9-ball gives you. As for safety play and banks, I think one pocket helped in those areas.

My two favorites games played over the glorious green felt are 14.1 and ................ straight pool!

As my screen name might suggest, my favorite game is 1-pocket. It requires all types of skill, and involves complex strategies. While it may be a local anomally, the money around here is in 1-pocket also. Sure you can hustle around the bars playing 8-ball, and you're almost guaranteed to be a winner, but bar players won't bet anything, and they get pissed when you take their cash.

I like 9 ball, 10 ball, 14.1, full rack rotation, one pocket and 8 ball, in that order.

Actually, my favorite game I didn't see listed. It's an oriental game.

It's called "Me Win".

My favorite, by far.
