I've never really played for straight up cash before. My buddy Zack says that when we finally get to play again after a year and some change that we have to play for at least a dollar. The most I've ever played for was a beer. But get this, I won, and the guy didn't actually have any money!

So here's the beef:

How much was the first pot you've ever taken from pool, non-tourney?(gambling).

Also, what's the most you've ever won?

Probably everyone started out playing the $2 and $5 games until they couldn't get any more from the locals. The most I won was 2k in a 8ball barbox matchup , races to 7 for $200 , 2k freeze out.

My best score was $100 off a guy playing 8 ball who was being helped for half by one of the better guys at our hall. This was back when I played at about C- speed. Thankfully, he has hissy fits when things don't go his way, so once I got him in the hole, he was finished.

My first big score was at about 12 years old. I told four of my buddies at school not to eat and bring their lunch money down my basement after school. I beat them on my dads pooltable for 50 cents each every day until their mothers started calling my Mom. Johnnyt

lol, johnny you must be a very young man!

My first scoe that excited me was about $350. I have won that much several times before. But the most I ever won was $900 giving a guy the 5 and the snap. On this night I had left the house about 6 and didn't get home until about 8 the next morning. My wife was so mad until I told her that I had won $500 and would give her half. She thinks I am the greatest!!!

Never more than $100

The most I've ever played for was $20 per game in 8-ball. Just last Friday, one of my team-mates in our pool league saw that I had been drinking quite a bit -- so he asked me to play for $20 per game.

After I won four straight, he pulled up. I actually gave him ten bucks back when making change and bought him a drink -- but he wasn't a happy camper -- because he thought he could steal from me. What he didn't know, was that I can play very good up to about 10 drinks. :D

we used to play .25 .25 .50 ring games...money on the 3, 6, and 9

Most I ever won in a small 1 dollar game was 350 plus a cd player and about 100 cd's. Not to mention he still owes me around 300....

guy kept doing double or nothing until he was hooked about 800

turned $35 into around $1k one night. classic bet-raising by the mark. started at $5/game, finished at $100/game (9-ball).

I remember those .25, .25, .50 cent ring games myself. We played on the 5 7 and the 9. We had a little pool room at the time...I guess I was about 15. The room just opened and my friends and I began to play. Hell, we had nothing better to do. I can remember winning $30-$50 dollars everytime we had a big game. My good friend Austin Brown always took home the cash. He quit the game a few years back...damn shame...he had Champion talent.

Ive never won more than $500 in any given night...but have won that amount several times...Although, I have lost that amount a few times as well. I basically only play one pocket for the cash anymore. I have been playing some heavy action up here in Louisville lately...Marc Masden, Rico, and an old black man named Rick. He came from Detroit long ago...damn, now HE IS A STRONG PLAYER!!!! I just love the game. There is a ton of gamble in this town, Louisville, and I plan on taking some of it off. See yall at the DCC!

Pool money

I won $400 from a local player playing 5 ahead sets of 9 ball for $200 a set on a bar box. He was supposed to be much better than me, but when he spotted me the break on the small table he couldn't beat me and he quit. We've never played since that match up.

I was learning and playing at Winks in Dayton. This was before Joe Burns took it over and renamed it Forest Park billiards.

I was 19 and my usual game was one or two dollar 9-Ball. I got hustled by Dan Bell who owned a pool room in Springfield, Ohio. We started out playing $2 9-Ball and eventually got up to $5 a game (I was speeding). We played all night and he refused to quit. I had to bust him.

Finally about 6 in the morning I got his last barrel. I had won the princely sum of $115. I was thrilled beyond disbelief at my good fortune, and incredible wealth.

Wow Jay. That's a lot of work for 115 bucks. Oh to be 19 again. lol:)

My first money made in the green felt jungle was against some team mates playing golf on a 9' table. I think I walked away with an extra 10 or 20 bucks.:)

2 bucks. Me and 4 friends put up 50 cent a piece and had a pool tourney at my house. The rest is history....=)

My first big "score" was at a downtown bar. I live in a college town and a local "A" player and myself were downtown just hanging out. We noticed some guys gambling on the bar tables and no one was beating them. I put our quarters up and waited for our turn. One of the guys owned a restaraunt in town so we knew he was pretty loaded. We started out playing 8 ball like $10 a man. Ofcourse, my partner was doing most of the work...I could make balls ok, but I didnt know anything at that time. We got up about $100 each and the other guys wanted to raise the bet...we said ok. Then I noticed my partner missing a few balls he normally wouldnt miss. I pulled him to the side and asked him "are you ok?", he whispered to me..."these guys are wanting to go off, but they wont if they dont think they have a chance...". When the night had ended, we won $1000 ($500 each) and from then on...I was hooked. My biggest score on my own is $5500.

I started a thread similar to this a few days ago about biggest scores and losses.

I touch on my first experiences gambling on my current thread<<<Official Ode To Pocket Billiards>>>

My biggest score to date is 8k ..It was more like a robbery than an actual match ...:) :p :p

I don't gamble real big mainly cause I'm usually broke. I've won 100 playing ten a game, and 150 a few times playing 50 dollar sets. The last time I gambled, a guy spotted me the eight. I beat him the first two sets 7-4 7-5. He wanted to play even for 100 the last set, but i said that 50 was my limit.(he had to go) So we played even the last set and i won 7-0. He moved to India, so no more easy money from him.
