Probably the two best money players in the world right now. At least at 9 or 10-Ball. I don't think Johnny or anyone else wants a piece of these two. Efren is probably still the King of One Pocket.

Thanks Bandido, I'm pretty sure any serious pool fan has been following this rivalry as of late. Their certainly not afraid to bet it up either, that's a considerable chunk of change they played for.

Hi Bandido,

Any new updates? Can you tell me the outcome on all of on ALL Dennis and Alex's games? I think they played 3 or 4 times (maybe more?) I just wanted the scores and amounts they played for - that way we know who is ahead right now in this rivalry. It would be easier to ask Alex but the time difference from here to there makes it hard for me to get in touch with him - especially if he is playing/practicing I don't like bothering him :)

The last two years, Dennis had Alex`s number, the only time I remember Alex winning was at the now demolished Coronado Lanes in Makati. I think it was because of Dennis` style of playing, deliberate. They were playing from 50 to 100 k in pesos. In terms of number of matches, Dennis still has edge, but in terms of amount played, it would be quite even by now.

It works like this - they play each other until one of them gives up - the one who gives up is the overall loser and the one who doesn't is the "King". Assuming that the one who doesn't can beat everyone else. :-)

As far as Alex string racks in ten ball goes - I have seen him beat the 10, 11, and 12 ball ghost. Can't really call Aelx a kid anymore but seven years ago this "kid" had a monster game and an equally monster heart! He may not win every tournament he plays in - no one does - but for my money - there aren't very many who can truly touch him when it comes to digging deep for the win.

Sorry, no game tonight between Alex and Dennis, Alex had to go to his homeprovince of Isabela. Warren Kiamco is playing Darren Appleton in a game of 8-ball now. Darren beat Warren the last night.

So Appleton is still there? Did he leave the country already after the WPC and just returned or has he been there since before the WPC started? He really must be serious in improving his slills (like Mika and Chamat) by playing money games with top players in the Philippines.

He has been here since the start of the WPC qualifiers, although he was already seeded. Don`t forget Petroni was here for about 8 straight months also French 8-ball player, Yannick Beaufils, before IPT North American 8-ball started.

Darren, is that you? You failed to mention Jerome and Jeff de Luna. What spots do you get from these guys?

I also have a suggestion. Next time that you set up a match to start at 8pm, please be there at 8 and not 11 or the backers will pull out (as with the case of your match with Gabica). They consider this as unprofessional and a big no-no. Gabica mentioned this to me the following morning while having his cue fine tuned.

Yes daz lost matches and won matches someone already said in this forum he had lost to pena, also jarome doesnt spot daz anything and the matches he won daz gave them away having been in command all games but credit to pena for his comebacks..

daz played jeff when first arrived he gave him 9-10 at 10ball not bad to say daz never played 10ball before coming philippines he won 15-14 and 30-28

next time daz will play level just like he
does when play anybody else unless his spotting..
overhall daz as played around 30 matches between $200-$6,000per match

and DAZ is well in front !

also it wasnt unprofessional because the match wasnt arranged for 8pm with daz so get your facts right mate

we was in club at 8pm gabica didnt walk in club last night till 10pm so who is unprofessional?

Ill tell you whats unprofessional not getting paid straight after win and having to wait for it next day. then they try offer cheques instead of cash what use is a cheque to us,wouldnt mind next day if something was said before match maybe they assume there going to win so dont need to take money with them? nothing was said or agreed before matches, When we
lose the players get paid cash straight away and we expect the same back.

Also few players agreed to play confirmed matches hand shakes for lets say $6,000 then next day we withdrawn money from bank which costs us money to do so,Its difficult to get that much money when dont have account in philippines and we always made the middle man aware of this,
I usually get the money from casino and one accasion it cost him $200 to get $6,000 we turn up to play with our agreed stake then jarome pena tells us 20mins before match he cant get a sponsor, how professional is that? That accasion cost us $200 for nothing because we ended up playing for only $2,000 and it happened with another player too!

But we are having such a great time and the experience is 2nd to none and the people so friendly so i can let all those little things go over our head,Mistakes happens all time and little things like that doesnt bother us at all

all i say to you get your facts right no hard feelings !

This is getting interesting! I love to hear from bandido! Popcorn, anyone? :D

No hard feelings Dave. Like I said the info came straight from Gabica so if there are issues ten take it up with him. Serves him right if he supplied wrong info.

I'm glad that you and Darren stayed it'll keep everybody sharp. Manny P's going to be there tonight so I'm anticipating an upwards of $20k stakes. Keep us posted or better yet I'll just head on down to watch. See you in a few.

Maybe too Daz should keep playing Warren. His backer is a bottomless well.

(JF ! you reading this? Remember what I told you about OOV bets?

This is why players usually post the cash ahead of time. If your opponent can't show the money ahead of time your left with nothing more than his word that he has the money, not very reassuring, I can't believe they tried to offer you a cheque the next day. I wouldn't play any more with the player in question but that's just my opinion.

Anyways, thanks for the stories Dave it sounds like Darren is holding his own over there! He probably doesn't mind the weather either;) Best of luck and enjoy the rest of your stay in the Philippines.

Dave, have you and Darren gambled much in the U.S.? Do you plan any gambling travels to the U.S. in the future? If so, please let me know when and where. It looks like Darren is competing to become the "money king" of Manila. Good luck to the both of you.

Dave, what cities will you be traveling to?

I doubt if we have any players in Louisiana in Darren's class except maybe some bank pool action if he is inclined. You never know, Jamie Farrell is always looking for fair, competitive action from the players traveling through New Orleans. I'll check with him to see if he's interested.

Manny played last night and won 3 sets to 1 over another amateur. In our amateur rankings from Class O,A,B,C with O being the highest, he would be an A. Last time Efren gave him a handicap of 16 in rotation. Efren has to make 104 pts or more to win while Manny at least 16 to win. It ended up as a draw with each winning 1 set. He financed Alcano`s game last night with Efren.

So who won between Ronnie and Efren and how much was the bet?
