YouTube - Frost vs. Scooter DCC

hand span

I finally uploaded a video from this year's DCC as practice. It's an early morning matchup between Scott Frost and Scooter. The gaff spot is that Scooter gets to move the cueball within a handspan on his innings.

Fred, I have gotten that spot from some fairly strong players. I may not have gotten the max. benefit from the spot, but it can be really strong.

Absolutely. Scooter plays pretty sporty and with this spot, Frost pulled up in two games.

And then there was Ricky Bird who lost to Gabe with 8-7 and a cigarette length.

I would play anyone in the world getting the handspan. You can never be hooked, frozen to the rail, on the wrong side of the ball, too straight in, etc. It's a monster spot.

Great video(even though it's a bit shaky and the audio isn't very loud). Wonder how much this was for?

Can you upload that gambling match with Shane? ... or any others for that matter.
Thanks
Gambling matches? Don't have any. I have a video of Shane shooting pool (and only one or two shots), but it's too big for Youtube. And I'm not the editing wiz.

As far as I know, these guys were just playing and exchanging phone numbers and Pokemon cards. Maybe six of them.

I have often thought the same. I also feel I could play anyone 2hands to their 1 in 9b. I wish there was some way to find out w/ out getting busted;) :o

Does this hand span spot apply to ANY shot during your turn? It IS a monster spot, especially at 1-H.

When to apply a hand span

I believe it would apply ONLY at the beginning of your inning at the table. In other words, right before your first shot, not on any shots after the first one. But I guess it just depends on how the players agree to set it up. If you could use a hand span before every shot it would be overwhelming strong. When I had this spot, I talked my opponent into this: I got to move the cue ball up to one hand span at the beginning OR the end of my inning. As I recall, my opponent saw the insanity of this in our first game and pulled up. When you can move a hand span and the beginning OR the end of your inning you can really stick the guy in the *hit house. For example, I proved that a hand span would move the cue ball from the bottom of a pocket back up onto the table surface, so all I had to do was shoot the cue ball into a pocket and then move it up into a corner hook! Or, just leave the cue ball near any other ball and move it so that it was frozen to the back of that ball. If you can play AT ALL, you could beat just about anyone with a hand span at the beginning or end of every inning.

Nice to see Scott shooting 1-Pocket again...still giving up too much weight, though, imho, but that's his style for sure.

He could have been a ***** and called a foul on the other player for laying his cue on the table, but I suppose it is necessary to do the handspan thingy.

Ive never seen anyone call a foul for laying your cue on the table while playing for pokemon cards.

In this particular case, it was every shot.

At the Derby City Classic (and other tournaments) you see every spot imaginable.

Yeah, and I've never seen anyone play for Pokeman cards before.

Gotta love it!

I have seen anyone get the handspan on their shots. That was a ridiculous gaff spot. Frost has almost zero chance to win that game. I would play anyone, including Reyes with that spot. If I lost then I can guarantee that I will have learned far more than I knew existed about cueball placement.

That's an interesting spot for both players. Hand span before each shot is WAY strong to get. To give it out I think you would have to stuff the guy up table to try to get distance, but then the guy would figure out where to leave a ball early I think?....hmmm

I guess Scott figures to out move somehow til he gets a shot, then run out. While the other guy is just waiting for a miss of any kind? I dunno? I'm interested to know the outcome.
