Z2 shaft warranty

The Z2 shaft I purchased at Loontjens (I use it with a Predator 5K2) is lighty split lengthways above the tip.

After 2 weeks or so, there was an anormal sound whan I used it and, if I continue to do so, it is obvious that the split will increase.

I don't do hard shots because I have a breaking cue; I suppose that there is a fabrication defect with this cue? (never seen that before with other cheaper cues).

The seller says that there is no warranty because the problem of this shaft (laminated?) is its fragility, i.e. it could not fall on the ground.

My shaft *didn't* fall but am I supposed to prove this???

Could anyone says if they are rigth to refuse the warranty or can I do something to persuade them to change their mind?

Thanks,
Marc

I agree. Go straight to Predator with this. They should replace it for you.

Mate, I'm also having trouble with my Z2 shaft. The ferrule disintegrated in a funny way. Cracked on a horizontal plane and simply fell off.
I took a picture of defect, and asked about warranty at Seyberts, where I actually bought shaft online. Seyberts told me to contact Predator factory directly, which I did. My warranty claim will be honoured, and so should be yours.

I had a similar defect, and was told there had been a batch of bad P2s. I think around 3% had the defect.

You can return it with proof of original purchase and a description of the defect to:

Attention: Darrin Brown
5055-5 St Augustine Road
Jacksonville, FL 32207

They will cover return shipping.

Hey Marc,

Are you on the poolkrant forum aswell? Well anyway, I'm pretty sure predator covers this under their warranty. Send them an e-mail directly I'm sure they'll get back to you. The warranty is provided by Predator, not Loontjens, they just take care of the service for you.

Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
I didn't know the existence of this forum (I come from Belgium, not Netherland).
I just made a search on google and found this:
Forum wordt verplaatst. Snel weer online!
I will follow all your advices and contact Predator itself.
The difficult part of this is that I live in Brussels, Belgim , thus far away from the USA.
I will get you advised about the replies of Predator.

Hi,
I just wrote via internet to http://www.predatorcues.com/contact_predator_cues.html
as suggested in another reply.
Living in Belgium, it is easier for me to first get a reply via the net.
But I keep your info in case of ...
Thanks!

As it was suggested by someone here, I wrote to:

I tried again today.

I wrote you a week ago ... and didn't get any response.
I try again as it was proposed by another member of az-billiard
(http://forums.azbilliards.com//showthread.php?t=53824&goto=newpost)
I will for sure give them a feedback about the your response.
Thanks!
Marc

The Z2 shaft I purchased at Loontjens via a Belgian intermediate (Mr Lievin from 'UniversityPool' in Leuven, Belgium) is lighty split lengthways above the tip.

I use it with a Predator 5K2

After 2 weeks or so, there was an anormal sound whan I used it and, if I continue to do so, it is obvious that the split will increase.

I don't do hard shots because I have a breaking cue; I suppose that there is a fabrication defect with this cue? (never seen that before with other cheaper cues).

I am a member of the Belgian Pool association and I am not a beginner; thus I knw how to use a cue, etc.

The seller (Lievin) says that there is probably no warranty because the problem of these shafts (laminated?) is their fragility, i.e. they could not fall on the ground.

My shaft *didn't* fall but am I supposed to prove this???

Could you say me if they are rigth to refuse the warranty or can I do something to persuade them to change their mind?

I am a member of different pool forums (AzBilliard, etc.) and many people there say that they are pretty sure predator covers this under their warranty.

What can I do?

(I have also a 314.2 shaft and I have no problem with it but I prefer the Z2 - tip, etc.)

Thanks,
Marc

Hmm, no response after a week..

A rep from Predator (Darrin) mentioned in another forum that they are going through some office remodeling and may be without email/voicemail for a few days. Maybe they have some problems with the online forms not getting through to them.

Marc, you may want to read his post where he left his direct email. See below

I once shattered a 314 shaft (this was years ago) during a tournament while breaking and Predator replaced it within a week. I was really surprised by how little time it took. I would hate to think this policy has changed. I mean, Predator has always been a company I've felt very comfortable doing business with.

I wrote directly on the forum.

Someone from Predator will *probably* reply to your post there. After all, it is not an official Predator forum, but they do answer some posts time to time.

I strongly suggest you email directly Darrin at Predator. His email is darrin (at) predatorcues.com

OK, I'll do that this evening (it is 8.30 am here in Brussels).
Thanks again.

I finally get a response from Loontjens: negative +++ for many reasons.
One of them (it is written in Dutch) is that I don't use correctly the chalk!!!!
Of course, that is just crap as I play for years, *know* how to use the chalk and because ... there is no relation at all with the problem of my shaft.
Thanks for all the people who helped me to contact Darrin!!!
Another *very very good news* is:

Hi Marc,

Send me your address and telephone number and we are going to replace the shaft that you have.

Darrin Brown
Customer Service Mgr.
5055-5 St. Augustine Rd.
Jacksonville, Fl. 32207
888-314-4111

A great thanks to Darrin who honors the Predator label.
I want to make a very negative publicity of Loontjens on a Belgian Pool list I am a memnber of *and* confirm the professionalism of the predator company.
Marc

Loony guys you have there at loontjens. Cracked shaft caused by chalk misuse? haha. good one.
