Once again I'm forced to defend myself against false accusations against my character and once again I will address these accusations point by point. I mean no disrespect to anybody, but want to make it clear that I'm not to stand idly by while people continue their unjust assaults on my character.
1. It is being said on this forum and on Max Eberle's Facebook page and others, that I stole my drills and my systems from Jimmy Reid. Max, I will give you $1000 if you provide visual evidence that Jimmy's drills are the same as mine. I've been doing my stroke drill for 30 years. Also I created my custom, progressive ball pocketing drills in the privacy of my own home. Nobody has seen them but my film crew, production manager and a handful of my first participants for '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment.' So if you can provide evidence and post it here for all to see, I will send you $1000.
I honestly have never seen any Jimmy Reid stroke drills or ball pocketing drills, and don't even have knowledge as to whether or not he has any. Since you will not be able to provide evidence then I highly suggest you stop with the false accusations.
2. Max Eberle reports via a third party that I created several phony emails and "stole" money from Jimmy's PayPal account. Max, if this is true, why are you or others not going to the authorities? Why waste time on a pool forum? Obviously that is a crime to steal money from a PayPal account so please go to the nearest authorities and report it if Jimmy is such a close friend of yours. The very fact that you're not going to the authorities and you're instead posting on a pool forum shows your motives might be something other than what has been stated. Logically it's not difficult to conclude that there have been several "pros" and coaches lately who have been attempting to harm my reputation and business. Personally I'm not pleased that for the second time I am forced to have to defend myself against false accusations.
Also, and this has been covered extensively before on this forum, so I do apologize to anybody who has to read this again, Jimmy Reid accused me of stealing money from his YouTube channel Adwords account. Reality is that Jimmy failed to renew his Adwords account, so the receipt of revenue from this source was discontinued. That has never had anything to do with me. If he renews his Adwords account, he'll start making money again. I believe one of my friends on this forum offered step-by-step instructions as to how he may accomplish this, complete with diagrams, the first time
these same accusations were made approximately five months ago. If I knew how to link to the prior threads I would.
3. Max Eberle, on his Facebook page states the following: (as reported to me today by over two dozen people) "when I first saw the free zero-x video on YouTube my jaw dropped because it was like someone just ripped off my Powerful Pool DVD, plus ripped off my sales copy "supercharge your game" and my old site header "pro secrets
REVEALED."
Truth is I've never seen Max Eberle's instructional DVD's. Ever. The information I present in my instructional materials is from over 30 years of being in leagues, competing, and having some great coaches who I mentioned before (Hal Mix, Jerry Briesath and Dallas West). Any information in any instructor's videos which is similar is because most pool instruction is similar in nature. Also, if Max Eberle is so offended by my YouTube video then why do I have an email from him indicating an interest in buying and/or becoming a distributor for my videos? He sent this email to me earlier this year. Also, Max saw me at Best Billiards a few days ago and didn't say a word.
Words like "secrets revealed, supercharge, and powerful" are not copyrighted and common in many videos I've seen. So, now I'm being accused of stealing from Max Eberle too? I can't use normal adjectives to describe my material? I can't make an instructional pool video using my over 20 years of film-making experience? I can't use my over 10 years of professional designer experience? I can't use my over 30 years of pool experience and background because I'm apparently offending some pros and other instructors? I'm confused.
4. So I stole Jimmy Reid's Diamond System? I don't get what Max Eberle and others are saying? So no one can make a diamond system video? Jimmy Reid owns these systems? The main part of my Kicking video is a system I created myself. This system isn't on Jimmy's videos or anywhere else. The rest of the Kicking systems are public information, readily available in many places as the diamond system has been around as we all know for many, many years. I don't understand what Max or Jimmy is saying here. What I tried to do with my Kicking video is create a diamond system video for all those people out there who are mathematically challenged. If you're great at math, then you should purchase Jimmy Reid's videos or Dr. Dave's Diamond System videos. I've never once told anybody not to purchase another person's videos. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I highly recommend Jimmy's videos and have also recommended frequently the videos of many instructors.
5. So it is once again being said that I stole all this material "when Jimmy was on his deathbed." Here is what I did for Jimmy Reid: created his YouTube Channel plus all video graphics, created his website along with all the graphics, removed malware from his computers by using a system restore CD, created his 'Jimmy Reid for President' website, and so much more. All of this I did for FREE. I told Jimmy he never had to pay me a penny. On a few occasions after I left Jimmy's and continued doing free work for him for several months, he sent me small Paypal payments (a negligible amount) but I always told him payment wasn't necessary.
6. All the graphics on Jimmy's current website are graphics I created. When I spent two weeks with Jimmy he was only selling one or two DVD sets a month. This whole
ridiculous notion that I saw a golden opportunity to fleece Jimmy after doing over 100 hours of free work for him is bizarre, unfounded and unjust. Also, if I'm such a "crook," then why would I have a painting of Jimmy Reid commissioned by a South American artist ($1500 value) to give to him as a gift? He wasn't interested in receiving the painting so I donated it to a fundraiser for Dave Yaeger's son who also has cancer. Simultaneous to assisting Jimmy I was also doing post-production on 'Rapture' a movie that my brother and I were producing, designing high-end websites and teaching pool as I have for years. This whole scenario that Max Eberle and others has laid out; that I'm some criminal mastermind who tried to cash in on Jimmy's illness is not just ridiculous, it's completely false and very unjust.
7. I find it interesting that I'm being attacked by Max Eberle, CJ Wiley, Jimmy Reid, and several other pool instructors. What I've done is created pool instruction that is easy to understand and affordable. I posted a three hour YouTube video FREE for people who may not be able to afford to buy a DVD instruction set. I believe proper pool instruction should be all about the game and not be about the person presenting the information, why I never even mention my name in any of my videos. It's not about me. It's about the lessons presented. For CJ to mention that I appeared out of nowhere is interesting since he's been connected to me on Facebook for months and I've seen people share with him directly links to my Zero-X Billiards page. I didn't come out of nowhere CJ. I've been around the pool scene since the 1980's in one form or another. Just because you or anybody else may not have heard of me, means nothing; only that my style may be a little different. I don't promote myself and that's my choice.
Currently I'm traveling around the country training people for '14 Days - The Great Pool Experiment,'and I'm doing this for free. Many of these people are league players who may not be able to afford to get proper training. I'm not going to apologize if anything I provide is impacting the sales of anybody else. After all, aren't they the ones saying that I'm a fraud? If I can't teach or people don't like my videos, I guess my sales would reflect that. They don't, nor is there a reflection of anything but positive reviews of my materials on any of my social media. The only negative I've seen is coming from the pros/pool instructors I've mentioned. I would like to state that I feel a better way to combat a perceived competitor is by selling more of your own instructional materials. I'll say it again - everybody can make their own choices and should always purchase what they select themselves, and I will continue recommending the materials I've found
helpful throughout my career. I've publicly recommended materials by Jerry Briesath, Jimmy Reid, Burt Kinister and several others - always have and always will. I've publicly promoted the Billiards Education Foundation, the WPBA/Bonus Ball and TAR. By the way, attending the TAR match merely required purchasing tickets. I also attended Bonus Ball last night doing my share to support anything relating to the sport we all love and should actively support in ways we choose.
8. Lastly, not only do I never mention my name in my videos, I don't advertise anywhere but on social media. I never have. Nowhere in my videos or on my website do I ever state anything about my background. I made a living playing pool for many years traveling with a sponsor. I've won several big tournaments on the West Coast in the 1990's.
I was obsessed with pool at a very early age, was the Iowa state Junior champion at the age of 16, took 2nd in Junior Nationals in Chicago at age 17, competed in several
pro tournaments between the ages of 18 and 19, competed in pro tournaments with wins against some of the touring pros. In the Northwest I did quite well making a living at nothing but playing pool and winning for nearly 10 years. The fact that I don't talk about my experience does not at all mean that I'm not an experienced, reputable player or coach. I've also taught pool since I was a teenager and have never stopped. Most of these lessons were provided at no charge or for very little for no other reason than because I LOVE to teach.
As for Jimmy Reid, I wish him nothing but success. I respect and admire his talent as I always have and want as much as anybody would, that he will recover. I will end this by encouraging others to help Jimmy in any ways they can.
PS: For all those who have sent me messages, I apologize for not answering. This is only the second time I've logged on to the forum. I will respond as soon as I can and appreciate your support. Maybe someday everybody will learn that there are ways to disagree with each other without purposely harming reputations and businesses. Believe me, I'd like nothing better than to be able to contribute things such as pattern puzzles, videos and knowledge to a forum if I felt that, especially pros and teachers of the game we all love could get along and work together to promote pool in many positive ways.
