John, re-read the parts I put in blue. There you have your answer, but have been too shortsighted to even see it. You totally contradict yourself, and see no problem with it. Which is why you are still at the level you are.
What level am I at Neil? What levels have I been at? What levels can I achieve still? What is required of me to achieve them?
Can you get me to higher levels? If so how? What are you actively doing to help anyone get better?
I see you doing a lot of talking on AZB with criticism of other people's advice.
So help me out here, I want to get better and have limited time.
CJ Wiley says to do one thing, you say to don another. Who should I listen to and why?
Buddy Hall says to do one thing and Jimmy Reid says to do another? Who should I listen to?
John Schmidt says aiming systems are bunk but Shane Van Boeing says he uses one? Who should I listen to?
This guy says that the elbow drop is mandatory and that guys says to never drop the elbow....who should I believe?
All these contradicting choices maybe I should give up pool and take up bowling, surely there isn't as much controversy about how to bowl.
The point being that ON THE TABLE there is you, your cue, the balls and the pocket. Nothing is stopping you from trying ALL the advice you come across. Buddy says do that and Stevie Moore says do that but Neil says do this....no problem....just try them all. Chances are that one of them will resonate with you and you will have fun making balls disappear.
I happen to feel that CTE is the best way to aim for me. But does that stop me from trying other methods? Nope, if I come across one then I try it. Maybe one of these days I will find one that I like better and use that from then on.
Last night I played a little nine ball and I used Tor's advice to try and run out using only top and bottom and center
(advice that I have also given many times here in the past but not always followed myself.) I also used his methods of getting on the right side of the ball rather than depending on my ability to spin the cue ball. Result, I had fun playing and getting out of my habitual way of playing and thinking a little deeper about where the cue ball should go and how to get it there.
So again I ask you? Who should I listen to if I want to get better?
