This cue is very special for a couple of reasons but the main reason is it was a cue that Kerry had started before passing and Joey just recently finished it. The cue is Black Micarta, Purple Heart, and topped off with some Brass/Micarta Rings. Oh and also some very white buckhorn on the joint and shafts. The Micarta has very subtle “waves” in the grain that look awesome but hard to show in the photos.

Joey said this is only the second cue ever made with the “JOEY” logo on the butt as well.

Joey is going to chime in and explain some more history behind the cue soon.

This was going to be Kerry's version of the Black Beauty by Hank Corsair .
Kerry got his start in making cues when he went to Hank decades ago to get a sneaky pete made . Hank told him he hated making them so he had Kerry have at it .
Kerry made himself a Black Beauty playing cue years ago too . It was cored with a real heavy rosewood and was a 60" cue .
Kerry cored this one with his own choice of maple . Kerry joined the forearm to his choice of purpleheart handle.
The black paper micarta used for this cue is no longer available afaik . We searched during my years with him as his apprentice . Tad was the only one who had some . Tad gave a piece long enough for 3 cues.
The black paper micarta available now do not come close to looking like the old one.
One other Black Beauty cue was made for a friend of Kerry.

I put the rings, joint screw, butt sleeve, collars and put on the finish .
Two dense shafts from our favorite source come with this cue . Ivor-X ferrules and Jeff's milk dud tips.
The lightning Z logo is upside down on this and on another cue that I finished.

I am changing my logo as well.

Very cool cue. Nice to see something with sentiment.

Kerry obviously saw something in you.
That vision is now reflected for the world to see.
You do your mentor proud.

I had the pleasure of holding this cue. Pictures absolutely do not do this cue justice. If you are in the market for a GREAT playing cue, put Joey on your short list. Meticulous detail and a true professional in every sense of the word. Someone is going to be very happy that they pulled the trigger on this cue.

awesome cue, too bad it popped up at a bad time for me.

congrats Joey and Alex

very, very nice cue and wonderful story behind the cue.

2 of my best playing cues were a Zylr and Joey. let me know how much this would cost.
