Carlo “Black Tiger” Biado Elected to Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame

The Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Hall of Fame welcomes four-time and reigning world champion Carlo Biado of the Philippines into the sport’s most prestigious club. Still one of the game’s most dangerous players, Biado, 41, recently captured the 2025 WPA World 9-Ball Championship title in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He becomes the sixth Philippines-born player to be elected to the Billiard Congress of America Hall of Fame, following Filipino legends Efren Reyes (2003), Francisco Bustamante (2010), Jose Parica (2014), Alex Pagulayan (2019) and Dennis Orcollo (2022). Biado will formally be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 22, […]

Cue length

I'm just a little over 6'5" and have pretty well settled on 60" cues. I tried a 62" for a while, but I ended up playing with a longer bridge length and that seemed to hurt accuracy for me. I think if I could have adjusted the balance point it may have worked out better and made me move the cue back in my hand instead of the extra length being all in the front. It just felt odd to me to move my grip hand up.
I've always tended to favor a front heavy cue. One thing to consider is if you are playing with most production cues that have a big weight bolt in the very back of the cue, it's going to feel very different with an extension on it compared to custom cue that is more naturally weighted on the front end, or a cue that has a steel joint with a big pin etc. A cue with the weight in the rear would probably feel better with a mid-extension.
I'm not willing to spend the money just to try it, but I would really like to have a week to mess around with something like a McDermott H-Series just to experiment with moving the weight and then adding/removing extensions.

Pensacola Florida Alibi’s Bar n Grill

I’m living 26 from this place . Just discovered it , two Diamond 9 Footers with 4 1/8 pockets , 8 bar tables but don’t worry bout the bar tables, I’m 6ft 2” and 55 years old . I like to play One pocket mostly nowadays because my back problems. If I’m having a good day I’ll battle for 6 hrs on a bar table but not really my favorite. Anyway, I’ll never quit winner I have nowhere I have to be on ANYDAY 💯. If I win one day I’ll be there the next to give you a shot at your stack . If you win I’ll play you everyday all day if I like the game , I have nowhere to be so it’s whatever AND WE CAN GO FISHING 🎣 ANYTIME …… Just trying to get back into it at this time BECAUSE I WANT TO LOL
Curious about something.
One, what is your back problem?
Two, I LOVE one hole, but unlike 9 ball, 10 ball, 8 ball, one hole is usually you shoot, I shoot, so lots of up and down from the chair, vs a run of 8 or 9 balls (which of course can happen in one hole)

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

This is probably a bit off subject but you might have an insight. Does MR have anything in place that prevents players from cutting the money up? That's a lot of money in the case of this most recent tournament difference between first and second was $24,000.
I think they pay down well enough that might not be a problem unless it is someone from Europe or Asia with considerably more expenses. Skyler, Billy, Shane, etc. probably had really low expenses.

Tascarella Cue

Having owned 20+ Tascarella cues over the last decade I think they make one of the best playing cues money can buy. While they aren't easy to get brand new, I certainly would not call them rare or difficult to get your hands on. Rarely a week goes buy that there isn't one for sale here or in the Tascarella FB group.

Good luck with your sale, this is a beauty.

I didn't like the ones I've played with, BUT, I was in awe of watching Joe make it in his shop.

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

Whether you rack or I rack, it is done the same way. Additionally, templates make it easier and consistent.
A one way lag does nothing to improve which player wins opening break or how it evens the playing field.
If something has skill wouldn't you see a bunch of pros close to freezing the cue ball on the lag often? Because of the rail and distance, a typical lag is fairly random.

No doubt you'd see more ties with one table length because you're increasing skill and reducing luck. This is a good thing if you assume the first break should go to the better lagger

If the lag is a skill shot, there's a better way

Why? That's a pretty soft shot. A lot of in game shots are played around lag speed, more so than just a table length roll.
Because reasons listed, nobody wants to sit there and practice the rail speed before every match. If the lag is a skill shot then make it more skillful and less luck.

If you were a pro would you want to have to practice the lag?
