For the fun of it, I did an NCAA style bracket. I had Grabe and Pecelj going out in the round of 32. I only had five of the final 16 and none of the final eight. Pro pool is very unpredictable given the closeness of talent.

Pecelj had the luckiest two days of his career. Doubt that will ever happen again.

Shane looked tired. Missed too many balls and position marks. Pecelj wasn’t great. He just made fewer mistakes. I like Grabe in the final.

Well, the SVB run is over. Pecelj takes it down 11-10.

In the past, there has been a table in the VIP room and games with some of the players. I don't recall any table in the lobby or entry way. I think it's not worth bringing a cue unless you plan to go to a local hall.

Re: the other post about the Ko brothers. Yes they may make the last 16 or last 8 in a Duya 9 ball, but alot of that has to do with their format of all "international" players on their own bracket, and all Chinese players on the other bracket, then combining them at final 64. The tournament where Kos played each other in the final was not a major tournament.
If they were all playing regular 9 ball on these Diamonds, the Chinese would be at a disadvantage until they learned the safety / tactical game needed. Wu is awesome at both games

Are pool players subject to the California jock tax? I see that most states have a jock tax and even some cities, but California leads the way at 13%.

If a player plays for a league team (baseball, football), the calculation seems more straight forward than for an independent operator, like a pool player. Also, football players are taxed whether or not their team wins the game in the taxing state. I doubt that California is going to tax every player in the pool tournament for having spent three days in the state. But they might.
