In pool that is not always the case, so a longer time frame will likely give a more accurate assessment.

Performance still shows in pool in short term. Deuel lost badly relative to his expected skill and his opponents skill. It's how you use that information to adjust a rating.

If you assume players don't get better or worse or weight the past too heavily, then established ratings will barely move for players like Deuel. Most amateurs probably get to a certain level and rarely change. But we all do get old and usually less active as we age

Chua ended up pulling out the victory 9-7.

Anyone noticed that Chua played the last few racks at absolute blazing speed, especially that last rack? He even would go down on several shots before the CB even stopped rolling...literally. Not sure if that was to psych himself up, or psych out Pongers. Chua might have been annoyed by Pongers very extended break right after Chua got on the hill.
