Not infinity, but sometimes the championships were pretty long. For a while, they were race to 73, or "best of 145" as the players would say it. I think of a modern snooker frame as roughly twice as long as a rack of nine ball, so it would be like a race to 150 or more. The snooker players didn't play as well back then -- very few centuries, if any -- so it may have been more like a race to 300 at nine ball. There's a match you can get your teeth into.
My favourite tale along those lines was the world record English Billiards break, in an age when cradle cannons were still permitted.
The break took about a week, during which time the champion’s opponent was required to turn up every morning in his best tuxedo, cue in hand, only to sit in a chair all day.
Shane has been on 3 winning teams in 19 years.I know it's an exhibition game but you gotta be better than what their showing the last decade.
Nope340 million population there's gotta be 10 players out there that can compete with the Euros.
…Should probably not be included in the U.S.A team again. Or maybe the team needs a psychologist. For all those moaning about the noise, go check out the last 9 in game 4 - there is dead silence in the room when Styer chokes on the shot.
Seems the crowd did get noisier as the crowd realized Styer was prone to choking on key shots.
Any player who is on the hill and has this set up for the last 8 ball of the match:

And manages to achieve this positioning on the 9:

And then misses the 9…

Ok, I just thought security would ref the bleachers. The security people and ushers and ticket takers and such are all venue staff or temps. I think there are around 50 in total. They are not permanent employees of Matchroom. Similarly, Matchroom does not produce the stream. For the MC, I think it was Sky Sports.
I was actually going to ask if they were selling alcohol at the M C. When I was at the Crucible for the snooker championships in England a larger portion of the crowd were drunk. There was even a fight a few rows away from me. One big Irish SOB even threw a beer at a bunch of people.
In general when I was in England and various pubs I discovered English people don't really fight. They'll get into screaming matches and up in each other's faces but nobody ever throws a punch. In the US you hardly say anything and the guy pulls out a knife and sticks it in you.

Never knew MR trained their security teams to work effectively with the floor referee.
What’s it got in his jacketses? Filthy thieves they stole my precious!!!!
Monster John was right up there with the most effortless stroke ive ever seen+1. Stalev had the best stroke I've ever seen. You described it perfectly. I heard he used a 25+ oz cue.
WHat I see a lot in situations where alcohol is involved is the hiring of off duty police officers. They can arrest if they deem it appropriate.I was actually going to ask if they were selling alcohol at the M C.
