The 9-Ball Break

I'm playing in a tournament in a couple of weeks, my first is over a decade, and the format is 9-ball standard WPA rules, so 9 on the foot spot but with no break box. Would the cut break like used on the WNT events still be the best move or is there an advantage breaking from the side rail? I did some practice yesterday and was struggling with the consistency using the cut break. I'm not sure but I doubt we will be using racking templates for this tournament, so would that benefit the side rail break? An advice is greatly appreciated!!
There is only one person on this forum qualified to give break advice. He's studied the tapes, bought the equipment, and is a student of the break.

Getting a Fargo rating when in area that doesn't use it.

Georgia and the South in general seem to be super anti-Fargo. (I live in Atlanta). You can do Salotto matches. Also perhaps you can run a few small events out of your room as the TD, and use DigitalPool? I started doing that at one room I go to.

This is the route I would go while also using Salloto. Get a bunch of your friends together who want a Fargo and have some small tournaments. You can use Dr. Dave's chart to get a rough idea of starter ratings.

What beginner pool tip do you wish you learned sooner?

Hi everyone,

I've been spending more time researching beginner pool tips, accessories, and game room setups while building a newer billiards resource site.

One thing I've noticed is that there seems to be a lot of advice online, but not all of it is useful for newer players.

If you could recommend one beginner tip, article topic, or lesson that every new player should learn early on, what would it be?

I've been collecting ideas and resources while continuing to build out my site:

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
