I was always good with the trophies . I got rid of a ton of them when we down sized. I never cared much about the money I won.. I guess gamblers care more about that because it’s how they measure who won lol I got a job for money.
I guess my favorite example is of all the tournaments I won there is one I won with 3 friends. It was a large tournament that took 3 days. It was exhausting but we all played great. We all made great shots or had tough outs when it was needed. I was younger and the feeling leaving that tournament was worth more then the stack of money I got for winning. I have no idea what I spent that money on but the picture I have of the 4 us standing at the table with our cues after we won it has been hanging in my pool room for years and thats worth more to me.

WAXGATE and the Effects of Slick Cloth and Waxed Balls

Bob,

Do you know if Aramith ball cleaner has any wax in it? The website says it has no silicone but says nothing (one way or another) about wax. Someone on FB got AI to say it has wax, but my gut says it’s just cleaner/polishing agents and no wax.
I think it has some petroleum of some kind in it but I don't know if it is waxy. I believe Dr. Dave's testing showed that it changed the playing characteristics very little compared to other things you can do to the surface of the ball.

The tournament becomes the game..?
Say you don't play in these things - we're all pro level right? There's that wall sized flow chart with the matches all assigned. It's a sports-betting map for your convenience. Players can check as well if only to see what kind of trek they face. Payouts are known and I'd almost bet a dime none of them are there to flip a coin at their chances. Even Billiards Digest in the 70s mentioned here and there, how players took on the field in groups. There was a buzz name for it I can't recall. Just teamwork right? :p

Gallego's box-cue.....??

True. but in the video, the ferrule is too long to be a Predator shaft.
There are other pictures of him with a Predator cue, so maybe by the time of the picture in the article which was taken a couple years later he switched shafts.
I actually didn't look at the shaft or ferrule at all.

I ran into an old timer at the pool hall today, 79 years old. He was playing with a Huebler he bought in the late 70's. He said he has a Predator but it has a very small diameter shaft/tip. He wanted to know where in town he could get a fatter Predator shaft. I said there is no place, order online. Complete deer in the headlights. Really.
