This Keeps Happening

I use the Outsville template for breaking racks of 9B. And as you all know I have been breaking those racks on my new Diamond Professional. The issue is that I usually end up with about four balls all close together as shown in the diagram. In this case it's the 4B, 5B, 6B, and 9B. The 6B blocks the 5B into the upper corner and the 9B blocks the 5B into the bottom corner. Thus position from the 4B to the 5B is very difficult. All these balls so close together has been making runouts very difficult for me.

My question is simply - is this normal for a template?

Sir,

Carefully place the cue along one cushion of the table. Step back, pour a glass of the highest proof stuff you have, a drinking glass full! The last thing you need is to discover you need a ten dollar template when you have spent ten grand installing a new table!

Like others, I don't see that table is that bad. Looks fine from Louisiana!(grin)

I suggest running four ball racks or running six ball racks from where the cue ball stops, make a ball or not. Do this at a brisk pace for an hour or two. I think you need to unlax and let things happen.

John Bender cue info

I have come into possession of several cues from an estate. One very nice cue is by John Bender. Any info on it including estimated value is welcome.

My Fargorate progression

great win nick ....🤑💰🏆
i play alot of onepocket
you played the right shot for you at that time
you played the score and took the lowest risk shot available when your confidence was low
not everyone shoots like filler

Nobody misses a shot from the booth or as a railbird! A bit different when you are on the table. The truth is only the man shooting can say what is the right shot for him . I was popping balls out of the pocket or jawing them one day, not a lot of money at risk. Money ball was almost straight in. I noticed the four railer in the same pocket was almost dead perfect so that is what I called! Put my attention on the shot instead of the four or five I had missed and it went in like it had eyes!

Excellent post of yours. Sometimes you just don't feel a shot and a shot the railbirds would say was harder is the right shot at the moment. Always easier watching than getting in the grease!

This Keeps Happening

The outsville rack is the worst one. Hard to get a tight rack.

However, one of the balls staying near the 9 is very common with a soft break and a template rack. Some players play it on purpose, as it leads to short games with an early 9 combo. That's the Corey comment earlier in the thread.

If you are breaking hard like 1990, you shouldn't have it, and it means you are not racking them good.

Bank Pool Question

The WPA Rules now include bank pool. You have to call the number of rails.

3.5 VALID BANK SHOTS
For a bank shot to be valid, the player must indicate the object-ball, one or more cushions in order that the ball will contact, and the pocket the object-ball will go into. Incidental cushion contacts on the two rail sections adjoining the target pocket as the ball enters the pocket are not counted as cushion contacts for or against the shooter.

In addition, the following requirements must be met. The cue-ball must contact the called ball before it contacts any other ball or any rail. The called ball must not contact any other object-ball or the cue-ball a second time. The object-ball must not contact uncalled rails except for the incidental contact mentioned above. There must be no foul during the shot.

If the cue-ball contacts the called ball and either a cushion or another object-ball at nearly the same time, and it cannot be determined which was struck first, it will be assumed the called ball was struck first.
