It's hard to compare Euro/Asian and Middle Eastern programs with the USA. We just don't sponsor non mainstream amateur sports. In the past it was Brunswick that had the pool/snooker/carom world and players in its pocket. Well its just different now. I just feel like the APA could get involved and see where it leads.

like bob says the club members pay an annual fee and some of it goes to expense sponsoring the ones going to (for example) eurotour. it's not a program per se. the lesser players get sponsoring too when they enter tournaments at their level

I wish that would happen, but the APA leadership would have to have develop the long-range goal to lift the whole sport. I think they -- and a lot of people around pool -- have a narrower focus. Maybe USA Cue Sports can get more people and organizations involved.

In looking up coefficients of friction for leather (https://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/friction-coefficients-d_778.html#gsc.tab=0) it is seen that leather-metal has a coefficient u=0.6, which is within the theoretical neighborhood of what is needed for no-miscue.

It makes me wonder if spending more effort in developing a chalkless leather tip would be better than trying to get more friction and less dust out of the chalk.

I did find a "scientific" paper where they looked at chalk v. no-chalk, but as soon as I saw that they used screw on tips for the experiment, dismissed it due to improper methods.

Chalkless tip is definitely the future and I bet' it'll be synthetic and not leather and will last a lifetime.
but would the players do between shots?

Darren's outburst was way out of bounds, and to go public with a negative rant about the product of a company that has supported pool for decades is just plain wrong. Equipment can and does become outdated.

I understand why Master still produce this chalk and so other cheap brands, pool clubs and bars won't buy crates of Taom or other premium chalk...
But I don't understand why they don't put out their own premium chalk to stay relevant. It doesn't matter what master did in the past, it's what they are doing today and tomorrow.
A good example is Kodak, once a major brand in photography, a household name, and they also sponsored photography events and competitions but they decided to stay behind, not going the digital route (that they pioneered) and what was left of Kodak?
So sorry, I don't feel anything towards Master.
But I do agree that Darren outburst is out of bounds, just like Darren knows how to be.

Been waiting on my carpet for 3 weeks tomorrow and it came in today, will get it installed next Monday! Billiard factory is waiting on me to set up the gold crown! It's been in for a week. Can't wait lol

Beautifully made cue. 8" extension available

That's an idea I'll explore. So far I only have $30 invested in seven. I'm guessing the work to fix them up into good sneakies would be a few hundred each. Still might be worth it though.

So I buy these old BBC one piece cues to salvage the rosewood to use as handle sections on my new cue builds.

Most makers use maple for handles but my experience has been this old rosewood provides better hit transmission and it adds some additional cool factor knowing what's under the wrap.
