Good players who do not look very good, while at the pool table, but still consistently run out.

Like Moe Norman in golf. Those inches before and after contact are what matter most
His golf swing is so simple I think a lot of amateur golfers would be greatly helped if we learned it. Pros don’t use it because it doesn’t give them the distance they need these days. Plus they have the time and ability to have the extra movements in their swing that generates power..but for the rest of us it would help greatly.

Sorry I read this and so many people shit on moe when he pops up in conversations but his swing was perfect.

Funny pic/gif thread...

it is Finnish(funny) cover. They have double minded lyrics.
"muna" = egg
"muna" = also d*ck
so "kolmen minuutin muna can be translated as "3 minute d*ck" or "3 minute egg" ;)

thanks, i'm glad i didn't ask my niece in helsinki what it meant haha. as a sweden-swede my finnish is below rudimentary

fun trivia about the original; bachmann's brother gary had a stutter so he wrote the song to poke fun at him (b-b-baby you aint seen nothing yet). they were one track short on the album and bachmann reluctantly included it. turned out to be a good idea!

Meucci Factory Cue Repair

I have 6 currently at Meucci and they have done 5 in the last year.
They are doing phenomenal work currently and none of the old issues seem to be present. Darren is the one I always speak with. Great advice and easy to work with.

I have had cues refinished a proficient as well and they are outstanding.

Meucci is definitely the cheaper of the two.

McDermott does great work but in my opinion are too expensive unless I need a D, C or B series butt cap I would never have them refinish a cue and I have had them do several.

Have you ever visited a pool hall with really good house cues?

Clicks used to have all top notch house cues and decent tables. The owners said if the equipment is good the customers will stay longer and return more often.

I went into a old small pool hall in a small college town. Amongst the many poor cues I found 2 very nice 59" 4 point one piece cues with rosewood butts. I offered the owner 300.00 for both. He said no those are cues the old guys playing snooker use. Well less then a month later the bar shut down and liquidated. Those cues were not in the auction.

Interesting story.

Have you ever visited a pool hall with really good house cues?

Back in the late 60’s, there were house cues still in pretty good condition. I remember because when you found a cue
you really liked, you’d try storing it in some obscure location in the pool hall always hoping that no one would find it.

I lived in Evansville IN for a few years, and would go to this weekly bar tournament. There was a pretty good player who played with the same house cue every week, he said. He loved that cue. Some drunk idiot drove his car into the bar late one night, and that building was condemned, by the city. Seen that same guy at a different tournament, and he was so sad that he lost the use of that house cue. He wanted to get ahold of the owner, to somehow get it, lol. No idea if he was ever able to though. The guy played really good with it too. Must have been a really good house cue.

Good players who do not look very good, while at the pool table, but still consistently run out.

I would add former snooker pro Dave Harold. Highest world ranking 11 and was many years near or in top16. Also won one ranking event in the 90s. Very unusual lack of practice strokes and a very short final/only backswing.

Wow, are his strokes so short, that they can't even be noticed? That is amazing. I am really impressed, lol.

Better than Phenolic

why not chalk before the every break?
you should chalk before every shot you make, especially if applying spin, so definitely on a break shot.

Recently I've tested my break speed with the Predator Break Speed app, using my BK2 with a CF Raven shaft with a Phenolic tip and with my Players J/B cue that have a Samsara tip.
Both cues weigh about the same. I got the about same max resaults with both.
It is more about the speed you can move the cue than the hardness of the tips at these hardness levels (of course, there will be a difference compared to a softer tip) . the Samsara is obviously easier to chalk and control with side spin.
