Gold Crown 1 rehab. Lots of questions...

Cool. Did you index where the rail sites go?
The formica came off intact so I have that to get the locations from. Will need new inlays. I like the look of diamond better than round, but more work to install. I haven't even looked to see what's available, Probably can get any shape I want. There's also the name plate, don't know whether I want to use the badly worn old one, get a reproduction, or neither.

Mark Wilson on sidespin to pocket balls

I was watching a snooker coach, and when describing a shot, he didn't use one tip, half-a-tip, etc., he used mm. It was interesting how often he would say no english, or "just one mm"
I hate talking in "tips of english." It's no real measurement, maybe a ballpark, maybe. I like how Ted G. Brown talked about it in the Wagon Wheel book. He would say things like "the bottom of the tip 3/16" above center cue ball. Tips are all different sizes... do you strike the center of the tip, the edge ect.

Using "tips" is a baseline, but a pretty crappy one to actually describe something with the needed precision. Using known measurements, be it in inches or millimeters is a huge improvement.

Jill Hawk cue cases!

Thanks for the kind words! We appreciate your enthusiasm and support over the last few years!

That is, surely, the largest collection of our cases in the world! Looking forward to the next builds!

Cue identifies help needed !!!

Hello all, I’m gonna need some help identifying this cue. It’s a traded in at SBE, I picked it up from a gentleman, the cue seems to be a BOBBY HUNTER Tribute. It has all the matching requirements for Bobby cue but looked to be a tribute. I already sent it to Bobby and he said it’s not his. I want to sell it, but since I can’t find it know the maker, therefore I couldn’t put a price on it. Any help would be great.

FYI, the cue butt is Ivory, and the joint is 5/16-14, however it has a sharp corner and won’t fit a normal shaft.
Don't know the maker but is it silver or gray?

Win the Flip

Pat did, in fact, sometimes give up the break. He even gave his opponent all the breaks with some excuse such as a sore arm. That was back when the break was not an advantage for a lot of players on the tour. The maximum power style led to a lot of scratches and even cue balls off the table.
Yes, I attended a couple of events in which Pat did this. It was in 1997-98 that he went through this phase. To be fair, he was the one keeping the stats for pro pool, so he must have known his own success rate when breaking, and possibly the success rate of various opponents.

Tascarella or Scruggs

I don't believe a bit of your story about a Tacsarella cue you described and no one else should either... I've owned over twenty, held over 100 and owned and seen around 30 of Timmy's cues and Tmmy's workmanship isn't in the same league as The Pete's... Sorry no debate it's fact...
Many of these people may have never even hit either. Ive only hit 2 scruggs sneakies. Neither hit as good as my Pechauer sneaky. And I wanted a scruggs awfully bad. Are the steel joint scruggs any better?

My modest collection of Adam and others

Here is a photo of my modest collection of cues.

1 Adam cue case, found via trading with a member here on AZB. I think I paid $75.

2 What I believe to be an Adam AS-1. A friend gave me this cue, which started me on Adam cues. It started out with a dark green wrap. I had it replaced with black linen when the original started to show signs of wear. I got black to match the EAP CF shaft (see below). This cue butt is well worn, likely having seen plenty of use over its lifetime. I don't know how old it is. I use it every so often. Has a plastic or composite joint, so the balance point is farther back from cue #3. I believe it's Bocote.

3 Adam AH-12, white/green speckled linen wrap. I found this one on FB Marketplace for $80. Those are decals not inlays. It's my primary player. Has a metal joint, so the balance point is 1.75" forward of cue #2. Hits nearly the same as the AS-1. I am unsure of the type of wood the butt is made from.

4 Adam MAC-14. I recently found this one. For sure I paid too much, $300. I don't care. It looked interesting. It's actually a three-piece cue; the butt is in two pieces. Real inlays. Pretty narrow tip (around 12mm.) Can anyone verify the model per the MAC-14 sticker?

5 EAP (Ed Petersen) custom cue, made to my specs and colors with acrylic inlays. I like dark blue cars with red pinstripes, hence the color scheme. The butt is Bocote and Purple Heart. I originally asked Ed for a dark blue linen wrap, but at his encouragement, I could not cover up that gorgeous Purple Heart. I will not reveal how much I paid for it, but . . . . it was pricey. EAP CF shaft, around 12.5mm tip.

It would have been a shame to cover that beautiful PH.
