He took 30 years off pool and just came back about 6 months ago. My thought process was either:

-He used to be pretty good and is still super rusty
-He's hustling
-His backpocket 9 ball game is legit way way way stronger than his normal game
-He just got lucky and was playing over his head

After playing 4 sessions, I'm still not sure. I'm actually super excited to play him, specifically to answer this question for myself. That's why I won't quit him. Nothing to do with the money either direction. I want to know this answer

Yes, even. I couldn't figure out how he was beating me in the beginning, because I feel like I play way better. But he kept running out the 789 or outmoving me on the bare 9 the first session at 50 per game. I told him I'll never quit him. haha.

It was like his moving game was 3 times better than his 1-7 game.

haha I stunk at chess, barely knew the rules. He beat everyone in the room like a drum in chess. After a couple months, someone brought in the top player in Philly to play him in speed chess, thinking they'd sneak up on each other. Of course they knew each other, and it was no match for the Russian guy. I suppose it was like bringing in the top pool player from one city to another, of course they know each other.
