Turning Stone

I remember the standard set used to be races to 11 winner breaks all over the country.

Then slowly

The pockets got tighter and tighter

The races got shorter and shorter

The games got longer and longer.

🤷🏻‍♂️😞

And then the "air stroking" rage came into being and the "surveying" and stalling started.

People walking around the table measuring, looking at every angle and then air stroking dozens of times, getting up, getting down, getting up again, surveying some more....etc, etc, etc.........

People would have laughed you out of the pool hall if you did that back when I grew up playing.

I have played for decades and ran thousands of racks and have NEVER, EVER, spent 5 minutes looking at a ball or surveying, no matter what game we were playing or how much it was for.

It pains me to watch most tournaments now.

Jill Hawk cases!!

Just wanted to add my two cents to this thread. Clyde and Jill are very easy to work with. Clyde is very detailed and intuitive at asking the right questions and learning what you want. Then taking your ideas and turning it into art. Every stage of working with him was great. And he beat me playing pool, Ass. lol. I fully support and recommend anyone that wants an heirloom quality case to work with them. And yes the good relationship he has with JB and using their interiors is great.

Does anyone know anything about "Goldtek" cushions?

My Steepleton (34 years old) came with Goldtek cushions. When we had the table recovered last year the mechanic told us that they were still good. Was told that at the time my table was built Steepleton used either Goldtek ( a good quality cushion) or another brand that was not a good quality. Lucked out and had Goldteks.
Steepletons were great tables back in the day. Our local hall had both Brunswick and Steepleton T-rail tables from the 30's and 40's. The front table was a 1930ish Steepleton with walnut rail caps and bell shaped legs like a Brunswick Kling, and it was an awesome table, other than the pockets being too big I thought it was actually better than the Brunswicks we had in there. The Brunswicks were Challengers I do believe.

Simonis Stickers

Now that my new Diamond Professional is about a month away from delivery I am wondering where I can get some of those little Simonis stickers to put on it? I think they come in two different sizes.

Anybody know where they are sold? Or should I just contact Simonis up near Chicago?
