Why is the APA so frowned upon?

I played in the APA for a few years when I was just learning, it was great then what I didn't notice is the team always had to change a couple of players, after a while I learned it was because of skill levels, as you go up in skill level it's YOUR job to find new players with low skill levels, finding new players in small markets is not easy, so sandbagging by taking a lot of "innings" and just barely winning is rampant, you put together a team for a few years and then eventually it has to be broken up due to skill level, it helped me alot when I first started but there is just not enough young people interested in the sport to keep adding players, there are some new leagues I would like to join but none of them anywhere close to where I live.

No USA or BCA pool leagues in your area?

Yes, the announcers would tell you what was coming up next. But that only helps if you are watching at that moment. A Facebook post that had the order of play etc would’ve been helpful (to me at least).
They also told you Brittany Bryant is 28 years old. Not

Two Cue Smith Lathes and Inlay Machine Package Deal!

I am helping someone sell a used Cue Smith cuemaking set up that is all on one rolling bench with storage drawers. One side of the bench has a five year old Deluxe Cue Smith Package 2 lathe with leadscrew Power feed, Router, taper bar for butt, taper bar for points, removable shaft taper bar with an extra shaft bar. Auto Cut Off Switch, Double Chucked Headstock. On the other side is a three year old Large Bore Mid Size Cue Smith with a Cue Smith Inlay Attachment that can go on and off either machine. The inlay machine has several different patterns with it. Also included is a bunch of tooling for the lathes. Coring Drills, Quick Change Tool Post System, Dial Indicators, many cutting bits. Looks like enough wood to build several cues. It will need to be picked up in New York just outside Buffalo. If all this was purchased new it would probably cost over $10,000. This all sells together as one unit. There will be no shipping. SOLD PENDING PICK UP.

This is a great deal for anyone wanting to build or repair cues. This is a rare find to get all this together for this price.

Clear coating polished metals

Curious if you guys have any tricks or techniques or specific products you use that maintains the highly polished look of a metal inlay once the clear coat is applied. I typically use automotive clearcoat, but I've also experimented with cyanoacrylate and epoxy and have gotten pretty similar results -- the shine just isn't the same once the metal is coated.

On stainless joints I can always stop the clear before the joint, but on inlays and most rings I don't have that option...

Thanks!

Ummm... What about the announcers?

I agree about the director (who chooses the view). This seems to be a pretty common problem. Let's see the opponent's reaction instead of the cue ball which is going towards a cluster. It really requires pool understanding and I think they are often stuck with whoever the video production company provides.
I kinda like Tim whispering from a closet

I finally played Ultimate Pool

You're totally right. That was one of the first rules I questioned. Their response was that everything they do is designed to speed up the competitions. They want to avoid long, drawn out racks to keep the tournament on schedule and to add excitement for the viewers.
I think they could change the rule to 1 tie up a game or however you'd word it.

The other school of thought from people was, just bash at the ball since slop counts and maybe when the balls come to rest you made a ball or tied one up that way. I'd rather not do the hit and hope shot.

Automatic Shot Clock

... A time clock near the pool table, like on the wall on a hook, that’s activated by the incoming player is what’s needed. The outgoing player doesn’t get to activate it. ...
The clock does not change until it is legal for the incoming player to take a shot. The clock is best switched by the outgoing player and I think it is a very good thing that the outgoing player is forced to return to his seat promptly.

My only real complaints about the production are

(a) they could have done a better job posting on the web or social media what matches were coming up;

(b) they need a director who understands pool. Way too many shots of the ball going in the pocket and ignoring the key issue of the CB. Are they getting shape? Getting the breakout? Who knows!
I thought both of these things more than once.

Great production by Predator! They may have overstated the attendance for the week but looked like great attendance today.
