I have to say I don't like the way Darren went about it, but there is no real reason to be using master chalk in 2026 pro play. I know this forum leans towards an older crowd who love master, but there is no doubt that it makes the balls and tables much much dirtier than modern chalks like V10 / pagulayan/ ghost / titlist. If you play against someone who uses master chalk with this much on the line, you would be tempted to ask the ref to clean the cue ball every time you came to the table, because even if there is a 1% chance of a skid, you wouldn't want to take the risk.

I honestly think chalks should be regulated in the near future, because if someone rocks up to a big tournament using predator 1080, they're gonna be spraying blue dust all over the table and the balls and causing skids and weird rolls which are just unacceptable at this level of play.

The greatest of all time (Ronnie O'Sullivan) uses Triangle chalk, which is the Euro version of Masters.

He used Taom once and he had loads of miscues.

Some say skids while using Masters caused them loose money.. Heard some guy speaking about that recently, so he switched to MrV. Havent seen the guy before..

Yup .. I always feel pool and golf are a lot alike and this is yet another way. Every course plays different and the weather can be different every day you have to adjust.

We have 3 diamonds at the bar I play a lot of leagues at. When you play on table 1 the big wall ac is blowing right down on it and it changes everything about how that table plays compared to the rest. I never blame the table. I’m of the level of player that I’m supposed to understand what’s going on and make the adjustment . If I don’t it’s my fault.. not the tables

You know when we watch current pro’s play they blast open the rack.. but when you watch the old players like Mosconi play what you say is exactly what they do. They clip the rack and knock some balls out and go from there. It’s been my focus as I’m really taking to the game and making it part of my daily practice routine.

does your complete chart add up to 100 percent? and what % does this chart of 50 come out as.

you bunch way too many in the same odds package so longer shot individuals are not weighted properly.

Whatever, keep telling yourself that. Everyone talks about how clean they are yet because the bangers who buy everything new thinking it will make them better, have made a mess of the tables of the hall I play at using the green version on blue cloth to where the guy that did the table maintenance, cleaning quit because the owner wouldn’t take a stand against those using green chalk on blue cloth. If it’s so clean then how does such a mess of things?

Master and Triangle chalk have been around near forever, yet somehow world class players still managed to play at an elite level with it without all the whining like Mr. Appleton displayed by using it as an excuse for his sub par play. Funny he managed to win 2 US Opens and a World 10 ball title before this “miracle chalk” arrived. Clean my ass, it’s turns blue cloth a shade of yellow because the idiots can’t use the blue version and when you ask them why, they say it plays different.

EDIT:to add a final thought. Years back Magic Chalk came on the scene, everyone here raved about it, that it was cleaner than standard chalks, Dr. Dave tested chalks for amount of hits without a miscue, it ranked the highest amongst all others tested. Yet no one talks about it anymore, did it become less clean, stop preventing miscues? No, it just became forgotten because something new and more expensive came along. It’s the way most “pool players” and I use that term loosely are. Those that can play, can play with anything, they don’t need LD Shafts, CF shafts, $1000 break cues, $800 jump cues and $25 chalk. They can play with a wooden house cue with an elkmaster tip and a cube of masters all day. The mediocre, they buy every new thing convinced that this new add to their kit will be the thing that finally helps them play good and then will defend these purchases to the death while still being 3 ball runners. The manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank.

if just called a tip yes then from china. but if they designate it as a brand you can be sure its the real thing.

It is a very offensive game but defense can be smart. Texas One Shot can be forgiving- if the 9 rolls up to the pocket and stops, it is still your shot, it moved. It can also be very punishing- if you make the last object ball but fail to move the 9 your opponent can keep moving the 9 until they win!

You missed the point entirely. This game languishes and always has for various reasons throughout its history. Its greatest enemy here in this country for the last 70 years has been bar boxes, adopted by those that can’t play the game properly, slowly at first, but now like a plague to where the USA, whose players once dominated this game, are now an afterthought to players from a host of other countries who in 25 years have now replaced US players, not because of anything other than the play the game on a proper table.

You speak of traveling around and working to get this sport included in the Olympics, which it should be in. Yet at the same time you try to promote some bastardized version of the game that flies in the face of reestablishing the game proper here in this country, you don’t see the irony in that?

If players in this country are EVER going to return to prominence in the pro game on the world stage then they need to return to the game proper, abandon bar boxes, abandon bastardized versions of it such as your invented game, that’s my point. You can’t promote it for the Olympics on one hand and undermine with the other hand.
