Cueball deflection depends on tip contact point offset. If I remember correctly, it’s close to linear. Imo it’s useful to have the contact point.

In addition to the shaft being deflected, it sort of looks like the line parallel to the shaft is parallel to the tapered edge of the shaft, not the center line. That might add half a degree or so; not as significant as the shaft deflection.
