I bought a super plain looking cue as my first and didn't care about aesthetics at all, but for some reason I really grew to appreciate cues as art this year.

Of course it won't make me play better, but I'm a nerd for this stuff and I appreciate the aesthetics.

If they want to run short rack events that is their business. It seems to be working quite well for what they intended. Bodies in the place to spend money . The handicaps have allowed a few lesser players to cash and that is a good thing. Tournaments that flow and allow working stiffs to participate on a week night.

As seen below, I have several cues that have quite a bit of value....I didnt buy them because they were expensive, I bought them because I wanted them. My player cue is a 57" Gus Hoppe cue.

My two daughters (in their 30's) have all expressed wanting to inherit the guns, coins, cars, etc. Both of them told me they didnt want the cues. Honestly, I dont know what to do with them when I hit the furnace......Probably give them to friends. Lord all I ask is not let my wife sell them for $1 each at a garage sale.

The $1500 number is around what I paid for my cue. I am very happy with it and it looks much nicer than the brands I mentioned.

I just purchased a break/jump cue about a month ago, made by Raven Billiards. I really like both aspects of the cue, a great brake cue, and a fabulous jump cue. Hits like a hammer, and jumps very easily. It is a great buy for a very good j/b cue. Here is a link:

I loved their cues and shafts. I still have a lot of shafts, but sold the OB cue I had with 3/8-10 joint. That cue dated back to before the new people and DP had anything to do with OB. I also have one of the Fusion shafts that had the CF insert, and I still play with a couple of them about once a month since I just recently retired.

IMO, they were my favorite LD shaft and cue maker, but with them being out of business, I don’t think I will buy anymore new or used. It’s too bad.
