He gives me 8-5 but thanks for the compliment.
That would be interesting. I'd like to see Jay match up with a player like Allen with Jay getting a little weight.

I'll play.
I've been playing a little more pool again these days, so I'm looking to play someone. Any candidates in L.A.? I want a rematch with One Pocket Ghost. He caught me once dead out of stroke and won a couple of games for $40.

I'll try it. I'm always up to taking a lesson whenever I can.

Didn't you see your name on the board over there? It says "The Barber" is barred.

Just kidding B-Man. Seriously, you are one guy who definitely doesn't need any lessons from me. I'd love to play you some Banks, but we can also play One Pocket if you prefer. Just let me know where and when we can hook up. I can even play tomorrow. Hard Times?
Might as well get the toughest games out of the way first. :)

I'll be at Hart Times tomorrow but to play in the straight pool tournament. After that I'm off to Reno. We'll hook up after that but no banks. Are you going to Reno?

I'll be there for the Eight Ball. I can only get away for a few days. :frown:

Jay

Look up a friend of mine while in Reno, Steve Rector. Steve will be there in Reno for all of the events.

Hey Jay, Have you ever been to the SBE?

just curious...

Once, about five years ago. Froze my nuts off, couldn't find a parking space and had to walk about a mile to the venue. Went to the action room, and they were lined up ten deep everywhere. Forget about playing, you couldn't even see. It reminded me of the worst parts of New York. NO PLACE to sit and if you set your cue down, it was in danger of walking off.

I did enjoy visiting all the booths and seeing some old buddies. One booth had this device where you racked all the balls in a circle. Then you had cue ball in hand and had to try to run all the balls. I did it the first time, so the guy told me that if I do it again, he would give me a free one. I did it again and he took down my address. Still waiting...

Steve plays good. I know him. He finished as high as 5-6th one year that I was running it.

YUP Jay that is the SBE in a nut shell BUT.....once you are in the building....it's a paradise. I have never been to the Derby....can you elaborate on the differences of the DCC to the SBE?

thnx, G.

DCC - More good players and gobs of them at all games. More BIG action, EVERYWHERE. And it ain't all 9-Ball either. You can meet and hang out with the champions, they are very accessible. Plus the tournaments are high quality with good matches everywhere. Lots of good stuff to watch and sweat. On the last day of the 9-Ball, the final 20 players was like a who's who of the greatest players alive. And there was good seating to watch matches because it is so spread out. The TV arena was the NUTS! Good matches all day, every day. Only a few vendors but good ones to visit.

SBE - Lots of vendors selling all kinds of cool billiard stuff, including a cue paradise. One pro tourney with a handful of top players. Average prize money, nothing big (at DCC always a few players win over 10K in tourney money and a couple win over 20K). The action room has lots of games among lots of shortstops. A few top players will get involved, like a Bartram or a Chohan. No one talks about it, but SBE isn't a cheap date either, maybe more expensive than going to Louisville.

DCC is more about the pros and SBE is more about the amateurs and the vendors.
