************************************************************************************

First of all, i wish Sarah the very best in the upcoming WC lady's in Taiwan, and I hope she doesnt mind this post.

I would like to take to freedom to ask some help from fellow poolplayers.

History:

Kamilla Khodaeva, is a 13y old girl from Oesbekistan (sp?) who has a passion about the game.
Her family arived in belgium in 2000. Her father has been playing money games in russion billiard all his life to support the famile financially. In 2000 the came as refugees to Belgium. He took a loan to pay for a billardtable and Kamilla has been playing snooker and pool since her 5y. She started her first tournament when she was 10.

Tournaments
I met them 4 years ago, and started the first poolclub in Brussels with Kamilla and her father. That first year we won the Statechampionship, and she was our top player.

After that we descided to let her play the national ranking events with the woman (18+). She has won over 90% of the ranking events, and has been the #1 woman since she started till now. Besides the ranking of the lady's, she also plays in the junior ranking, where she plays against players like Stephen lammens (who won the European Championship juniors), and she has won from him too.

Last year, she got her first invitation to a big tournament. Her first European championship when she was 12. Compared to all the 17y old german European champions, she might seem to be the underdog, but she beat them all; and won at age 12 her first European championship.

World Championship
Last month she participated in the qualification event in Holland for the WC in taiwan. She won the qualification and got her spot into the world Championship. Making her the youngest woman ever to qualify for this event.

How good is she?
She makes 60+ breaks in snooker.
B&R's 9ball = 5
B&R's 8ball = 4

money
Now pool is not considered a sport in our country, and the billiard federation dont gets any money from the governement. Each player has to pay for there own expenses. Being refugees they hardly have enough money to live trough the day, and ofcourse they cant afford the expenses who are around 1600€ for the airplane, and 400 for the hotel.

Her father told me he would sell his car, he needs to go to his work, if they can't find the money. Being one of there best poolfriends i took it as my goal, to do everything i could to find the money to send this girl to the WC.

If done a collection with all the players from my country, and the money is slowly coming in.
I contacted the national paper, to write an article about it. I will add it in this post. (i know its Dutch, but having a full colour paper about pool in the national paper, is HUGE for us little country.)

I contacted the national radio, and gave an intervieuw, and hopefully some people will be touched by the story and it might trigger some donations.

Maurice, from the poolhall HOW WEERT in holland (also on this forum) donated a brand new Maise break cue that I will be auctioning off. The full amount will be going to the expenses. I will post the link later.

What can YOU do
Im am sure that this girl wil get LOADS of attention in the WC, seeing she is only 13y old and she is in for a nice result. But before the world gets to know her, no money means no WC.

If people would like to make a donation to help me realise her dream, they can send the donation to the paypal adress:

Paypal = bruno_ramos_pereira@hotmail.com

Im doing everything i humanly can to help her, and I hope i will get some suport of the poolplayers from AZB to do the same. She is once of the nicest girls i know, but on the table she is a killing machine. I can't predict if she will win, but if she can win the European championship in her first visit, then she can do the same here. She is a natural and she deserves every chance she can get to show the world, that this girl can play.

Thank you all for reading , and I'm looking forward to add you name on the donators list.

Huge article in the national newspaper.

the article made the ball roling.
The 3 biggest newspapers and 2 biggest radio's are going to write about this too.

I don't think pool has gotten so much coverage in our country since a LONG time.

Now i just have to print a HUGE check, and hopefully in a month we will be able to present her a check that cover all the costs.

I'm glad to be able to help Kamilla realize her dream. Go get 'em girl!

Hey jay :)

Im very glad that i can put your name on the top of the list of the donation from AZB. You have a real hearth for pool.

At the moment I have raised 310€ (around 450$) from poolplayers in belgium.
4 others will be donating soon.

Two clubs have placed a box at the counter of the poolhall, and they will be asking customers if they want to donate something. At the end of this month, all the money will be given to Kamilla.

I still can't say if the newspaper articles has raised any money, as it takes a day or two before i can see the deposits on my account. I can't wait to check it out :)

Im still thinking what the best way will be to auction of the BRand new Kaiser break cue + bag. I want to auction them on different poolforums and ebay and see what gets the best result... but i can't just put them up for sale everywhere. I need a place to gather all the offers.. need to think that over. any idea's are welcome.

 Thanks everyone already for the nice support words and Jay's donation :)

I don't mind at all! I hope she gets the funds together to go and I look forward to meeting her!

Sarah

Thats very sporty of you Sarah ! topclass woman.
Me to I would like to wish you the very best.

You really have to meet her.
I have been giving her English lessons for the last 2 months now in between matches. (They dont have english in school yet)
So she should be able to speak some basic english.

I can't believe this girl has been living in the shadows for so long. She needs to get out and play against the best.

If you do see her, tell her HI from me (Bruno Ramos Pereira).

carl laverge, also donated a custom sneaky pete from Brent Hartman, that will be auctioned off.

I guess best way to auction both cue's of is to just put them of for sale on ebay.

I will post the link as soon as i they arive and i have some time to take good pictures

morningbump

We still havent hit the mark and are still looking for players around the globe who want to give this amazing girl a chance

after the many newspaper articles, i managed to get some primetime.

http://www.brusselnieuws.be/multimedia/video/13-jarig-pooltalent

here is one of the interviews in french (and you can see her play a little.)

So far I have raised 2600€ for her (almost 4k $), and I should have something like 3500€ (5k$) at the end of the fondraising. I don't think this much has ever been raised in our small country for pool, and no poolplayer has ever had so much media coverage. I'm already SO happy !!!

It started all small with some local poolplayers willing to donate some bucks and its ended in a nationwide media thing.

To all those atending to the wpa :) she'll be the underdog in any match, but i'll put my money on her ANY time. I hope she'll do well in the WC and wish her the very best. She just came back from trainingcamp with the european team and she's putting up many many many hours of training every single day to prepare herself.

Anyone willing to donate, can find the paypal adress in the beginning. Company's who want a (factuur???) so they can bring it in the taxes, can contact me as this can be aranged with the national pool federation.

Solly who is stepping it up for this fenominal tallent i have been talking about for some time here in AZB.

Thanks for the clip Bruno. Champion pool players come in all shapes and sizes and can come from anywhere too. Who would have thought the next U.S. champion would come from Sioux Falls, South Dakota? His name is Shane Van Boening.

Is Kamilla going to the Women's Ten Ball Championship in June in Manila? It is all about how determined she is to be a champion. She will be playing some very good players, some better than her. She can use it as a learning experience and build on it. I can see her potential though; good form, nice stroke, good eye. If she sticks with it, she can be a top player in a few years. Just tell her about Jasmin. From a little town in Austria she emerged as one of the best in the world.

Thank you for telling us about Kamilla. Encouraging a talented young person to follow their dreams, have faith in themselves and know that anything can be accomplished with good habits and work ethics...that is a gift that you and all those around her are allowing her to have. Look forward to seeing her compete.

She wont participate at the moment.

main reason:
She hasn't have her Belgium papers yet (refugees i met 4 years ago), and if she competes once for a WC (not a open WC like the one in Taiwan) she can't play for belgium ever again. We are hoping all the media and some recomendation letters from myself, the belgium federation and the European federation could speed up the naturalisation proces, so she can play for Belgium. (if she would play and stay from oesbekistan, she wouldnt be alowed to get any financial help from Belgium federations, she wouldnt be alowed to be send to the European Championship even if she is the #1 in belgium with the financial suport of the national pool federation, etc..) I hope for her she will get the Belgium nationality fast !
second reason:
They dont have a single penny. Getting the $ to get her to this WC was already hard. I don't think it would be possible to do the same thing twice in a year... let alone every year. but thats problems for the future.

I dont think ive ever seen someone more dedicated. If she misses a certain shot, she will train that shot 100 times, and then try to make it 10 out of 10. If she misses once, she will redo it 100 times, untill she makes it 10 out of 10. In every match she has a paper where she writes down the shots she missed, and then does this the whole week untill she masters all the shots she missed.

She plays over 30h/week, and when we play some racks together, she is stringing 4packs like if it was nothing. If she makes a ball on the break, she has a runout percentage of 85%. Hoping to get it to 90% with the extra preparation for the WC. I think these stats are up there with the best.

I can't compare her to yasmin as i've never seen her play in real life, but she became european champion at age 12 in a field filled with 18y german european champions, i don't think even yasmin did that.

ok ok :) maybe my opinion is a bit....over the top, but i just love the girl and i dont think, i'm sure this girl is a future world champion. Its just a matter of time. At age 13, she has SO much years ahead of her. I consider her my little protégé. Anything i can do to help her, i will. Jay: We'll see in 10 years :) I hope i'll be able to say: i told you so :D

THey have had very rough years and been living in the shadow for so long, they deserve to get some extra help to make it.

Holly: thanks for the nice words :)

The only player I know who practices like that (shooting hundreds of shots) is Shane, and look at where it got him. Earl used to practice that much too. Thirty hours a week is fair, not quite obsessive yet. I would guess Shane is on the table about twice that much each week.

She's very fortunate to have someone like you in her corner. It's one thing to be a great practice player and yet another to be a tournament champion. The latter takes not only abundant skill but tons of heart! It remains to be seen if Kamilla has the right stuff, when the greatest women players in the world start running racks back at her. It will happen you know. You can let her know that too. She has to want it more than them. That's the bottom line.

exactly jay. i think this will be the first tournament, where she will have some VERY tough matches and real competition. Im very curious to see what it will do to her mental state of mind and how it will affect her game.
In the finales of the European champion, her opponent was leading 4-0 in a race to 6. She came back and won the 6 next frames. This is what convinced me that she is more then a greath player.
The WC will be a very good test. I just hope she can bring up her A game. At that level your B game is only going to give you a ticket back home.

ps 30h/week is obsesive, because i dont think shane or earl are doing high-school at the same time

rofl, what would earl be like if he would be in highschool !!!
