How much does it cost to ship a cue to japan ?

am i going to have trouble because it has ivory in it never shipped anything over seas

there might be a problem because of the ivory. then again there might not be. the question you have to ask yourself is ,"is it going to be worth it?"

from what i've heard the fines aren't cheap. i've shipped to cues to germany (europe i can't actually remember if it was germany) and it cost about 30 bones. shipping to japan shouldn't be too much more, if it's more at all that is.

if you know anyone that's stationed there you probably wouldn't have any problem shipping it to an fpo ap address

hey bud, if you list it as faux ivory you will have no problems if you look at elfryon under a black light which customs uses it reacts the same. FedEx has Been the best for me shipping things international. I would pack the cue in a tube then put it in a box so they don't cut it if they want to inspect it.

This is dated 2003.. Might be outdated but it covers all import and export of ivory into and out of Japan.

FedEx Reads like this:

Japanese Law prohibits the following goods from being imported:

*Opium, ether narcotic drugs and utensils for opium smoking, and stimulants (including Vicks Inhalers and Sudafed), psychotropic substances (excluding those designated by an ordinance of the Ministry of Health and Welfare)
*Counterfeit, altered, or imitated articles of coins, paper money, banknotes, or securities
*Books, drawings, carvings, and any other article which injures public security or morals (obscene or immoral materials, i.e. pornography),
*Articles which infringe upon rights in patents, utility-models, designs, trademarks, copyright, neighboring rights, or layout- design of integrated circuits
*Botulinum Toxin A (over 500 units per vial) and Toxin B (over 10000 units per vial) are prohibited
* Firearms (pistols, rifles, machine guns, etc.),ammunition (bullets) thereof, and parts of Firearms
* Animal Quarantine (bone, guts, horns, blood, antibody, serum, semen, feathers, raw wool, raw leather, bacteria, coliforn bacilllus)

What I am getting from all this as long as the original business that has the ivory and used the ivory has the ivory on file as to what it was used for and you can show proof IF the question comes up there will not be a problem. But remember that man can make a very good ivory substitute nowadays.

It's worth repeating that it is ILLEGAL to ship ANYTHING CONTAINING IVORY in or out of the United States. If it is suspected that it contains Ivory IT WILL BE CONFISCATED & even if it has FAKE Ivory, it may not be returned to you. WHY would you take the chance of going to jail or losing your cue? Are you that hard up for cash????...JER
